Not the greatest photo, and that's my old setup (moved everything out of the alcove for acoustic reasons) but I still have that black chair. Ikea. Less than £100, can sit in it all day without a twitch from my back. Bargain.

(the orange director's chair was the one I used before I got the black one :D )

Nice revival.

I'm still getting the Hag Capisco, but I've got to wait until the New Year because I've rather unfortunately turned myself into a pauper.

Any posture nerds out there or just anyone that's got a particularly comfortable fucking chair?

Tempted by a second hand Aeron, but I keep finding new bits and pieces that are way more than I should spend but fucking awesome:

Want.

You think your back hurts? I produce music perched on my bed, keyboard on the matress looking at a screen about a foot lower than my head.

I'm surprised I'm not a hunchback

Where I attend uni in London we're next door to the Herman Miller Showroom. Walking past a line of 30 areon chairs back to my creaky wooden desk chair is pretty depressing

We have a couple of these at work. They're fucking expensive. I bought a $60 knock off version (minus the chrome) at Walmart or some shit and I like it better than the real deal at the office.

Yeah, it's wicked - although I've only sat on them in shops so far... they have to make all the coverings and stuff to order, so it'll be a couple of weeks before I get to sit on mine.

It's pretty freaky to sit on, but seriously comfortable.. it's got a sort of saddle seat, so your hips are always in the right position with your back straight and the shape of the back means you can rest your elbows but keep your shoulders in line properly.

And it tilts pretty comfortably for watching TV/reading... the base is nice and heavy, so it's really difficult to tip it. You can sit on it backwards too because of the freaky back.

I've never been excited about furniture before...

RH Logic 400 Chair

Just turned myself into a pauper and bought an RH Logic 400..........! 8)

--------------------------------------

I went to several ergonomic office furniture stores and tested out many different types of chairs.

The Aeron was comfortable, but I found that the arm rests weren't as adjustable as I liked. Other chairs I tried included the RH Logic 300, Herman Miller Embody, Herman Miller Mirra, Herman Miller Celle, Humanscale Freedom Chair, Hag Capsico, Swopper Stool, Okamura Contessa and the BodyBilt High Back amongst others.

No single chair will suit everybody. It really is important to go to a local store to test them. For me, the RH Logic 400 was the most comfortable as every thing is adjustable. I've adjusted the chair I've bought to match my posture exactly, and this makes sitting at my desk very comfortable! :)

--------------------------------------

I find my breathing is easier and far more relaxed, improving my concentration greatly. I'm sitting upright with decent back support and my arms fall naturally in an open position on the rests. This is also having a positive effect on my posture when standing too.

As this seat is height adjustable, my legs are higher than before. I'm able to move more comfortably as I sit, and because the chair has castors (wheels), I can stand up at any time with ease. This is a vast improvement over my previous chair which had no castors and had to be lifted in order to stand up.

Overall, I'd strongly recommend spending the extra money on a chair which you find comfortable. I'm glad I spent the time searching for the perfect chair, as sitting at my desk is a more pleasant experience.

I also spent a while getting quotes from various office furniture dealerships. I bought my RH chair from The Office Furniture Store after they beat all my other quotes by £50! The chair cost £734 with VAT and delivery included within the price, a slightly better price than my original quotes of over £1000.

--------------------------------------

So go out today and get yourself a decent chair. You won't regret it!

Pat :)
