Did you see the Jodrowsky interview in yesterdays Guardian Guide?,apparently he's signed a contract to make a sort of sequel to El Topo[whether it'll ever come to fruition is another matter tho].Unfortunately "King Shot" aint gonna be happening due to a complete lack of funding, boo[twas going to be a metaphysical western set in a desert casino with a man the size of King Kong and Marilyn Manson as a 300 yr old popetomm wrote:Fando y Lis, El Topo & The Holy Mountain are all excellent brainfuck movies from the big man Alejandro Jodorowsky.
Japanese flick Gozu is probably the most insanely trippy movie I've ever seen. It didn't help that I watched it when I was a few squares past regular thought. It's a great movie all the same. You should also see Ichi the Killer (another Miike film).
South Korea's Vengeance trilogy (Sympathy, Old Boy & Sympathy) are all pretty surreal. Park Chan-wook has made a lot of great movies. One of his latest, I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK, is great. Lovely movie, strange as fuck. Well worth seeing. I think Film4 have it playing later on this week at some point.
Stalker is very ethereal and strange but it's one of the most majestic and beautiful movies I've ever seen. You need to get on that one 100%.
i'll dae more later when I can be arsed.
