I've been producing for just under a year now and still don't feel I am any good.
I am improving everytime I make a song though. I have always said that once I get a physical release I will feel like I am good then.

I can't wait for that day, to have your own song on Vinyl in your hand :D.

Trust me you have just began! Your work is immense, to expand your target audience maybe you should look into some deep "dubstep" ? You said your going to have your first physical release dropping in Feb ? Which songs are they going to be?

Keep crafting Depone!
Cheers Nitz!

The two that are due for release are A/ "Oldskool Dub" and B/ "Eskimo Jam"

I have just finished a deeper subby track actually mang! Check it

You made my day when you said that yesterday ! I always wanted Oldskool Dub (i think personally its your best song) to get released and always said i wanted it to win the carbon logic comp so you get a release for it but nevertheless "Break The Seal" got up there!

I cant want for the release of that, defo buy!

I think i have forgot what "Eskimo Jam" sounds like but "Oldskool Dub" is still there so its all good for me!

Large up Depone

About 3 years. My biggest improvements came when I started being a bit more disciplined and aimed to make finished songs instead of the usual 8 bar loop thing.

Been producing for 10 years... but have been a musician for 25.

Every day is filled with blood, sweat and tears... and the opportunity to look back on what has worked, what hasn't, and how I can improve.

To be a true pro producer, you have to combat the scales of better production values = less creativity, as another poster said. It's so true it's scary.........................

The first couple of tracks I made about a year ago were pretty horrendous. I had a problem with finishing a track caus I just wasn't happy with it. I was producing every day but in the first six months only finished two songs! Reading through these sorta forums has helped a lot with my production though, and recently I've been happy with my tunes. At this stage I care more about the production quality than the song itself, then once Ive got up to a good production level I can focus more on song arrangement/harmony etc...

I started producing hip-hop when I was 15 because I loved making my friends mix CDs. Then I got distracted with school, work, a social life and more. Now I am getting back into it at 23, but I've been DJing for the last 3 years so I know better what type of music I want to make. I also understand a lot more about music theory than I did.

Define 'good'...

I've been producing electronic music for 2 1/2 years now and messing about with recording and production for rock based stuff for a year before that. I'm certainly a lot better than when I started (I sometimes look back to tunes I did a year ago and wonder what I was thinking) but I've still got a long way to go.
