Musically it is perfect, trust me you'll never find a harmonic out of tune! Even if that's not necessarily true in a Western tuning system, it still sounds musically perfect!vulvavibration wrote:no no no.wirez wrote:Burial is such an amazing Producer, Composer and even scientist.... Everything is just perfect, the harmonics, the space and use of reverb and delay... It's just all so correct...
not at all perfect! an that's what makes it so damn great! there are so many little things that don't really fit or are absolutely far away of the tune. i don't think that perfectness is the delightment of a dubstep or whatever-future-bass-track.
that's maybe true for pop music.
and that's what makes burials sound so fascinating to listen to. each time i listen to burial i hear something else/something new.
my opinion. still, the whole rest of your text is true. he's a genious

sometimes I wonder if he really has never done music tech and if he really uses soundforge. because like you said it is basically perfect.

How does the copyright work on taking these rnb acapellas and cutting them up?
I.E. what licensing do I need to do the same?

Re: Re-Creating Burial's "Fostercare"
Fostercare is my favorite track ever. The "bass drop" hits harder than any tearout track I've heard, because, instead of just piling white noise and machine gun kicks, he creates all the tension in the notes and phrasing and timing leading up to it. The way the first line of those syncopated, chopped vocals dance around the root note, then settle in when the bass hits gives me shivers every time, and all the teasing he does in the call and response and interaction between the bass and vocals is amazing. Plus that little "eeeeeeeeeuuuuuuhhhhhhhh" vocal is my favorite sample he's every used, it sounds so stressed. Plus that bass is so huge I could live in it with, like, two dogs and a wife... there might even be enough space for a pool in the backyard. God, this track is just pure bliss.

I know this is going to be a bit out there and not really on topic but i think i might have just worked out why he named himself Burial.
After reading on here or another thread earlier that there is a few pics of him online i wanted to have a look for myself as i have never seen what he looks like.
I come across his wiki page that had his real name which is William Bevan
Now if you type that into google Burials wiki comes up first and then underneath you get
William Bevan - Funeral Directors Ross-on-Wye Herefordshire.
I know its a bit pointless all this but would be pretty good if he created his stage name by searching for himself on google or his family owns the funeral directors, now that would most definitely be more fitting for his name.
Sorry for derailing as you were

yeah, and apart from that he was also inspired by the Burial Mixes by Rhythm & Sound (his album covers use the same font as the Rhythm & Sound vinyl releases)lloydy wrote:I know this is going to be a bit out there and not really on topic but i think i might have just worked out why he named himself Burial.

I like fostercare a ton, it's just not even close to my favorite burial tune though. I can see why it is for some people, but he's done a lot better imo
I love Hudson's description of the bass though
