this summer, dubstep hit my area... everybody started playing this crazy shit that i had never imagined... it took a bunch of stuff i was familiar with, like sounds from tech, trance, house, etc, and feeling from DnB... but it was sloooow. and griiimmy... i had been messing around with synths and drum machines since i was about 11 or 12 years old... it just occurred to me that i could make dubstep, and furthermore, i could make the Dubstep that I wanted to hear :P

Listening to The Prodigy and Aphex Twin (and countless industrial bands) during my early 90's youth had a major impact on my decision. Not to mention seeing Liam Howlett on stage with a wall of gear. Most of the sound was coming from DAT as I now know, but man.. just seeing it all was more than enough. I was always involved in music, but being in bands never worked out as the night would always be ruined if someone didn't show up. No drums = no fun. These days all you need is yourself.

because my life wasn't full of enough challenges and I thought (wrongly) that my music would be good enough.

sadly there's a lot more to it than cheeky rave tunes, and as it turns out the only people that really seem to make it are were already skilled musicians before they got into dance music.
