In my former band, the Manhattan Gimp Project, the engineer had--

* about a 3' x 5' wall of original Serge modules
Image
(not the exact photo... my friend had more modules)

* 6' tall electrostatic speakers
Image
(again- not exact model, but similar)

* some cool outboard gear like a Prophecy, classic Lexicon units, etc...

* and one of the best mic collections in the Midwest: Neumanns, AKGs, Electrovoices, as well as an array of vintage mics..(including an RCA 44 ribbon - my cello never sounded so good!!)
Image

....Oh yeah, and a full and proper bar (complete with bar stools, and a mirrored wall holding all the bottles) in his studio.

I still have fantasies about all that kit.

modular synths are fucking cool

i had a go on one of these:

for four hours i was reduced to a giggling wreck (as were mates who were with me), so fun and it sounds fatter than rick waller. plus you get the battleships panel instead of having to deal with bloody patch cables all over the place.

I could list about a million pieces. Aside from raw ass tube preamps and old analog console's, here's a few synth's I'd love to have but never will:

I may be getting one of these though, maybe:

ORLY?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

ah look at that, it's a pcb card build. which is great and all but... you'd still need to house it, get a power supply, i/o, etc. not a lot of fun.

for those of you w/ soldering irons, steady hands, and time to kill, check out 7th circle audio and the hamptone pre's.
