Perhaps, but the reason we have seen a mass migration of producers and listeners from DnB to Dubstep is because of DnB becoming cheesy and the exact opposite of what it started out as.

I have learned a lot from this forum as well. I have made some fantastic contacts and have gotten some of the best and most useful feedback that I have ever recieved.

Its too easy to say "oh well, its just the way it is Im afraid......" or "Its happened to every genre thats gone before so its ok to let it happen to Dubstep" That is a defeatist, lazy attitude that breeds nothing more than apathy and indifference. Is it not worth it to try and keep some integrity within this scene we all hold so dear?

It amazes me that there are so many people on here that moan about the state of the scene but then go out and support the very same aspects that they are so opposed to.

Fucks sake. Im getting a massive fucking cob on now and I have to go into a meeting about fucking diesel prices......

DnB has been cheesy and commercial for a very long time.

Dubstep is the new cool, or was. That also helped to bring in all the new attention. Dubstep is already cheesy! you only have to look at what everyone is playing and banging on about. It use to be dark, moody. Now I hear chipmunk vocals and cheesy trance leads, yuck.

JFC this thread got depressing quick. Not really what I wanted to read during the wake and bake session before I have a full shift of making music lol. Trust me I know what everyone is on about. I feel dirty now for including a Doctor P track on a mix yesterday (check www.savoryaudio.com ) The thing is they still make moody, suby goodness. The collection is growing larger every week. It gets frustrating when you play a really good set of "real" dubstep and then some dj who is 6 months deep in his career struggles through an all Nero set and everyone is having it but people ARE getting sick of that stuff all the time and then they will be turning to the good stuff. So stick to your guns. Me I outbro the bro's every once in a while to keep them in check.

Really? I hope they do get sick of it and then just move to something else.

I hear what you are saying about people getting sick of Brostep...... I hope you are proven right. I really do. Around here the pricks are lapping it up and dont show any signs of slowing down.

I went out last weekend and theb twat behind the decks played four tracks off of the fucking Caspa album. Soul destroyingly shite. And yet everyone was having it........ Bizarre.

Really... this thread needed to be made, it has come to address a lot of hard issues that exist within our genre.

Personally, i love the sense of community that this thread holds... sure there are the "how do i krackz MASSIVE?" and "HOW I MAKE BOREGORE NOIZEZ" guys, but really they're there just to bring a smile to your face, but really, without the advice of the oldschool guys, i would have been supremely misguided in the direction i want to take. so i love that.

really, dubstep was born in the underground, and will live in the underground, in my opinion. sure, you can get big, but you have to sacrifice some part of the underground to achieve that. you have to pick your poison.

when i first started, i hated Burial. now, the more i listen to these Rusko/Caspa wannabe tracks, i truly respect Burial for being anonymous and pushing things in his direction.

do what you love! dont worry about the scene. if it becomes laughable, laugh at it! but continue to make tracks that inspire you.
