God damn some people must be deaf blind or on crack. Some of those results are a joke haha (best dj). Cool awards though, good to see Swamp winning the new label deal.

i think people with taste like more stuff so spread their votes out more whereas fans of the shithead music voted for handful of obvious names hence them being so high up
these results arent that depressing...
rob booth should have taken top spot blatantly for show though...way better listen than anything else out there for me

People voted for the winners, how is that a joke? Its how most awards are given out just cause you dont agree with the results doesnt mean they dont deserve it.

Coulda been worse!
I voted for Mala for best producer, but Joker well deserved it.
Out to Flowdan! Out to Skream, caught him in Denver and it was easily one of the best shows I've ever seen... Youngsta is a badman on the decks from the recordings I've heard but people in the UK are the only ones who get to see him. I voted for Skream because he's got exclusives for days, he knows how to go hard, ravey, and deep, and he's part of the foundation of this sound. Dubstep wouldn't be the same without him.
Thank god Joy Orbison won best new producer, right?
Rottun above Medi is baffling to me, but whatever... very happy to see Swamp81 and Nonplus+ where they are.
I understand and expected When I Look At You, but why do people like Swagga? It's like everyone just agreed to pretend to like something that sounds like shit.
BIGGGG up to DSF and Juno for doing this, I actually anticipated much more whining

I'm not surprised by any of the results really.
I'm honestly really surprised as many people on here voted for me in best DJ and I'm really thankful for that, it means a lot. Coming top 3 in a scene as big as it is now is a major achievement. Sincerest thanks to everyone who voted for me!! Thats cemented me in the top 3 of every awards since the beginning and I hope to continue into the coming years
Well done Skream though, he's a hard act to topple right now

16 bit 2nd best producer is quite shocking to say the least.
Thought Oneman would have been mucher higher up the best dj list.
Big up Hyperdub well deserved winners for best label. Shame about Applepips not being higher up some sick releases in 09
Best rmx no surprises
Glad Joy Orbison got best new producer.
Thought Blackdowns blog should have been higher some brilliant stuff in 09 especially the Loefah and Kryptic Minds interview.

EMANCE wrote:On a tangent per these awards, I think there should be prerequisites for next year's awards. Here are a couple of suggestions:
- 1. User's join date must be before the current year's awards. Example: Users that wish to vote in 2011 awards must have joined before 2010/1/1. This would prevent users from voting on things that happened before they joined the forum.
2. User's post count must be greater than or equal to X. I suggest numbers such as 20, 30, 50, 70, or 100. It could be tiered such that every X posts the user can vote in another category of his or her choice. This would limit the amount of users voting in categories they know nothing about.
Actually, fuck that. These awards are an sample of Dubstep's popular definition during the time in which they occur.
Here's to those who've won my own dubstep awards. You either know who you are, don't need to know who you are, or don't care who you are.

Skream is a fucking badman no doubt, but i think the American vote has had a big influence on the results, would be interesting to see where the votes came from, like you say, its hard to vote for someone you havn't seen live. I would have preferred to have seen him win best producer tbh.

I dont understand the appeal of Swagga either, or the big hype about Datsik, but perhaps this is also the American influence, are you guys all voting for the home-grown (North American) talent? Are the Americans more in to the aggy sort of stuff? It would seem so by looking at the forum.
Emalkay definitely deserved his award for When i Look at You, even though it not my favourite track hes ever done (Battle Suit blows it out the water in my opinion), it goes OFF every time ive heard it out.

Roflrilla wrote:Does best DJ really just require an awesome mixing ability?
Wouldn't people also take into account things such as personality, interactivity with the audience and being a general entertainer?
Yeah no offense but thats n-type right there in a nutshell. And youngsta's mixing is so fucking flawless how neither of them won is beyond me @_@ Oh well biggups to skream anyway!
