I think this attitude applies to a few other genres.fractal wrote:mocsun23 wrote:Mr. Mittens wrote:for realAcre wrote:if i didnt know what dubstep was and i saw this video and was told that this was dubstep i'd be like "wtf is this? i dont want to listen to this! its shit!" and then i'd probably try to actively avoid dubstep from then on. . .
it's so weird that yall feel that way. i swear this attitude is only prevalent in dance music. For example, rock music goes from led zeppelin to kid rock to metalica, R&B can be anything from usher, the dream, al green, or amy winehouse.... i wonder if people in those scenes share the same "fears" about people misconstruing the type of sound they're into? probably just rambling but im kinda getting sick of people worrying that the wobblefest kids are "ruining" or "stealing" the name dubstep. If people hear one tiny slice of the sound and decide they don't like it, good enough for me. We got enough people in this thing and dont really need to push the sound to the masses anymore, in fact, i don't think the pushing of the sound was a good thing

Fucks sake, he made that track "the Moaners" about people bitching on the forums about him. Hes just making fun popular music for people to dance to and shit. Swear this forum becomes more full of grumpy pedantic stnuc every day.Over7hink wrote:I think this attitude applies to a few other genres.fractal wrote:mocsun23 wrote:Mr. Mittens wrote:for realAcre wrote:if i didnt know what dubstep was and i saw this video and was told that this was dubstep i'd be like "wtf is this? i dont want to listen to this! its shit!" and then i'd probably try to actively avoid dubstep from then on. . .

In this case it's dubstep and Rusko. We could go rock and Blink182. hip hop and Gucci Mane. r&b and Ciara. So if someone who had no clue what hip-hop was to ask me to play them an example I wouldn't play Gucci Mane. I'd play them The Boogiemonsters or something from that era.
That's how I see it anyway.
But do people take Rusko seriously? The impression I get from his music is that he's making a joke out of it. Especially as time marches on... I get this impression more and more. This video is pretty much what I thought it was going to be. And it had me laughing.
Whenever he drops a new tune that's really ridiculous I sometimes think he's just baiting people . He may very well be sitting on his computer laughing at this thread and all the responses.
but they obviously didn'tborrowed wrote:If DMZ had made this, you guys would be all over it.

Oh right, because I haven't made any music videos so that must mean everyone else who does automatically has good ones.tylerdwhite wrote:link to your music video's?Dead Rats wrote:I don't think the video in question really has anything to do with whether Rusko's 'made it' or 'living the dream'.
