sorry man didnt mean to sound aggressive! am just quite interested as to why u think this collabo feels 'forced' or 'artificial' etc, predominantly because i've heard similar sentiments elsewhere..

I think most techno DJs who play marathon 8 hour+ long sets get mashed up. he's just clumsier than most and pretty awkward looking to begin with, so yeah, it's pretty noticable when he is fucked up. bumps into the needle etc.

this is a show to represent the exchange of ideas and influences, and the love that's evolving between the worlds of minimal techno and dubstep..
creating another fascinating new pathway for sound..

Pinch and Villalobos will deliver individual mixes, they're not playing back to back..
just so you know, it's never about 'forcing' anything.. if artists decide to respond to a brief from the show, it's because they think it's an exciting challenge... just as Vex'd & Distance have done this week.. but then, as with all my guest, they have carte blanche to do whatever they want with their mixes...

the show is all about pushing creative ideas forward.. and giving producers a platform to experiment on radio in a ways they may have never done before... but producers are free to manipulate those ideas in any way they choose...

the show will be March 9th now i think... will keep you posted...

it's great to see so much excitement.... i think this one will be fascinating.. :)

all love

Väth has been involved in pretty much every movement electronic music has gone through since the late 1980s. He was responsible among other things for starting the label Eye Q with Heinz Roth and Matthias Hoffmann, a label that defined the blueprint of trance music as we know it. He left it behind when this blueprint started to get so horribly watered down and exploited commercially by others, though.

He's also reknowned for being the biggest party animal that there is among the big shot DJs, yet somehow, he still always manages to keep doing his job properly. This has given him a very devoted fanbase, particularly in Germany. When he gets wasted enough to grab the mic, you can be sure that people in the scene will quote him for a long time afterwards.

I'm not too keen on what he plays these days, and his career has made him slightly bigheaded, but the man is an absolute legend regardless, and few people know techno better than him.

a friend gave me Väth's latest mix-cd, and i thought it was pretty weak. big tracks, but that was the point, it was like a Now Thats What I Call 'Minimal/TrendyDance' 2006, no feeling in the programming, an apparent misunderstanding of the power of some of the tracks. playing mouth 2 mouth second track?! second cd is better though, but still just comes off a bit thoughtless

He had a CD for mixmag that had a bunch of the tracks he uses on the Sound of the Seventh season. It's excellent, though peters out a tad but great flow for the first half or so. http://www.discogs.com/release/765406

My point proven. Hadn't seen this yet though, big up.

edit: here's what can happen after Sven has gotten feisty on the mic: http://81.169.188.125/karmarouge/audio/ ... _Laune.mp3

villalobos played in Traffic in dublin a while back, maybe around a year and a half ago at this stage. the set was ok... no dubstep, but he did have a bottle of vodka in his hand all night. and a smile on his face.

i like his production work though. that queen of bass mix of 808 the bass queen is just... awesome. it goes on forever, so much space. but i still cant picture in my minds ear how his stuff collides with the dubstep sound.

rhythm & sound would be a lot closer to dubstep than villalobos. i've always liked their stuff (in whatever guise, 'M5' is the starting block of the entire microhouse/glitch subgenre imho), paul st hilaire is a good vocalist for their 45 sessions (they also played in dublin, good fun, but you realise its just them DJ'ing with old reggae 7"s and not a live set?) and it would be cool if they handed over the audio files from see mi yah to some dubstep producers to fuck around with. the vainquer remix recently was class... that'd be a good night out, with kode9 too.
