these are the reasons always given.
i've yet to hear anything that says otherwise.
oh, i forgot the "embrace technology" reason.
yeah, cuz i've seen so many serato djs doing amazing things you cant do with vinyl....

i use the loops, sample player and FX regularly. the loops are amazing! and the sample player can come in really handy if you're using jingles for the radio or something like that.
and so what if i'm lazy? does that make me a bad DJ? and i'm not cheap, i just have a bad job and bills to pay. save this money that i used to pay for serato i pretty much live on the breadline and have never had cash to splash. took me so long to save up for my 1210's and mixer!
is it jealousy that makes you hate on people with serato?

also, anybody buying it cuz they think they wont have to learn to beat match is stupid. its not that easy, you still have to have the technique of mixing on vinyl.

As long as you're beatmatching yourself then theres no problem surely?
I prefer to use vinyl but if someone can't be bothered to lug tons of it round, who cares? The main reason I got Traktor was for the pitch range when I'm mixing other types of music; you get the odd tune that you want faster than the top of 33 but slower than the bottom of 45. There's plenty of perfectly good reasons to have Serato or whatever.
CD Decks are ok too, but theyre like having a union flag hanging out your window - nothing wrong with it in itself, but the other people who do it are bnp

HAHA.
also, "cheap" & "lazy" dont make any sense to me as reasons to use serato.
those aren't good qualities imo.

I prefer using vinyl and CD's myself, not the richest person in the world so gotta choose my vinyl carefully
For me I don't like using serato (form the couple times I tried it), just didn't feel right. I like pulling going into my bag/crate/cd wallet and looking for a tune and pulling it out being like fuck yeah I wanna play this.
When watching someone else play a set when they reach into their bag have a flick through and pull something out for me it just gives me a little extra buzz, wondering what tune someone spent their hard earned money on. Again just a personal thing
I got no hate for serato users, Loefah used it down here late last year and he his set was one of the best I've ever seen.

mate, i dont wana argue at all but have u ever seen dj am or even seven for that matter??? These guys use there serato to the max & trust me they can do a shit load more than they could do on vinyl only, otherwise im sure they'd be using vinyl!! Also Do you like spending £6.50 on a vinyl that u only wanted one side of??? coz it used to piss me right off. now i have the choice, to buy the mp3 if i only like 1 side or the vinyl if i like both or if i really like the one side i could buy the vinyl. I have serato not because im lazy but because its easier (not beatmatching from the waveform that just seems stupid imo) but easier in the sense that i can record my vinyl to my laptop & have my vinyl & mp3s all in one place (even in one playlist) right there in front of me with no wear to my rare vinyls what so ever because they are sittin at home. No more diggin about in the dark through a bunch of white labels that look the same. I do not agree with the embrace technology arguement tho, at the end of the day if u wana mix on vinyl... mix on vinyl. Personally im happy as i am, i prob mix 60% serato 40% vinyl. It doesnt matter what i do tho coz everyone should be doin there own thing. N-type, Youngsta, Mala all use vinyl still, Seven, Loefah & Joker use serato & Kromestar, Silkie & Coki use mostly cds..... do u think any less of any of those coz of the medium they chose to mix on???? i doubt it........

if 2 pioneer cdj1000s were the same price as serato, there would be no debate

i dont think thats true... for all the real 'vinyl heads' im sure they would progress to serato not cdjs. that just my opinion tho.....
