As a label, i like to see what the label is all about, what kind of sound they are after, what kind of artist, their aim's and goal's, and most importantly, are they going to represent their artist. All this should be given freely available to any one who would like to know. Additionally, there seems to be no list of distributor? iTunes, beatpotal ect... By you saying "amibent" music is very vague, it could mean anything...?

When i read this thread, there was not clear indication on those elements... as well for the website. Hence, the request for further information. There was not aim to try undermine your knowledge of this business, i simply asked to find out more. Other information such as, cut, PR's (if any) ect ect should be given after you are happy to sign that artist.

Normally, many label threads found on DSF have a sentence or paragraph stating their intentions. It has not became a common norm here. So, i can't see by me asking for further information to impose any problem or any sort to you.

Do you see where am coming from now?

BTW, Lethargik i don't seem how you were helping in any form, you just tried to aggravate it.

Don't worry paravrais, no beef was caused :)

However, i think i can trust Basic A judgement when he say's your a legit label :) Trustworthy DSF member, with good knowledge.
Sorry if i aggravated you, but i was trying to put your interrogating into context..... fair enough he might have been one of those labels that pop up once a month which don't bother proof reading their posts and don't have any info about them selves what so ever.

However i find it pretty absurd that you would demand a companies business model over a forum when he hasn't even said he may like to sign your tunes.... what honestly gives you the right to do that? You would never dream of asking for details about who they're gonna promote tunes to, what clients they have to a label like hotflush, hyperdub etc even before you've sent them a tune!

then again this guys is asking for tunes on DSF so maybe im giving him too much rep :-p although im sure he's alrite, he's given off a pretty professional air with all his replies so far.
Don't worry about it.

Understandable argument you make, but he implied that he told Basic A the plan, thus assuming that he told him, he would have told me. However, in the past, i have been send the Aim/model of the business by just inquiring, then once i have happy, i said yes to the label. He did not send the FULL detailed information, understandably, but it was significant enough for me to see if i was right for them or not. So it can work vica versa depending on the label.

You said... professionalism, you can normally pick out the mickey mouse label but how they present them self to you, and how they act. If they are giving you intelligent answers back or not. :z:
And i dare to say, but the quality of the artist they are signing.

Just want to reiterate that I wasn't trying to cause upset or insult to anyone. Just trying to explain why people were asking the questions they were and why people can be a bit sensitive with their tunes sometimes. Of course a label has every right to operate in whichever way works best for them and I can understand why certain things would want to be discussed only once a deal has been made.

Feel like I got a bit caught in the middle of something when I wasn't trying to get involved, just trying to mediate (if thats the right word :s)

Btw Fent Pirate I would send you something but don't think I have anything that isn't tied up with other things at the moment :(

Yes and no. I can tell you straight away that people will argue that Hyperdub and Hotflush already have a proven track record, etc etc... so they don't feel the need to interrogate them about their business models. On the othr hand, I do agree that there is no reason to get caught up in specifics until you know if the label even wants your tunes anyway. Send the tracks via Soundcloud (without the ability to download) and if the label likes em - fine, then talk about the details. If the label doesn't like the tracks, fine - move on. Or, if you are really paranoid that the label will still try to do a runner - then don't send em anything and wait a couple years to see if the label blossoms. Seems pretty simple to me.
