I was in to grime and it was starting to take a turn for the worse. I liked grime due to hence it's name the grimey beats but they were turning more and more pop sounding by the day.

I had a few dubstep tracks on the PC but would hardly give them the time of day. Then I went to see Dizzee Rascal and Tubby was DJing before and this track was dropped



Hearing that on a decent system changed me. That was the first time I ever felt bass in my chest. And nothing comes close to the feeling of earth shattering bass.

my cousin was djing garage in Toronto and showed me some DMZ and Skream. and then on a vacation in england i went to a DMZ night a few years back.
nothing has ever compared to that night.

For me I was getting sick of dnb, having that feeling that I'd heard it all before. Kept hearing about dubstep but never really gave it a chance - downloaded a Youngsta Rinse set & been listening to it ever since

It's pretty much all I listen to nowadays, dnb is WAY too fast to just listen to IMO.

I've still got friends who say dubstep is too slow, this is bollocks - I brock out MUCH harder to dubstep

I think it was a psytrance forum (heh) that got me into it.

A person there posted a thread about dubstep and a lot of people there never heard of it before and asked him what the hell it was. So I think he posted some youtube links of Burial; and probably Skream and Benga. But I definitely remember Burial because at first it didn't click for me. I was just trying to understand; which should've came easy because I love downtempo/chill stuff.

Then I began searching for more... eventually I ended up here.

yup it was for me, somehow bumped into rusko then downloaded the fabriclive tracks (mostly rips), first listen was okay... then began to love it, then explored the beautiful dubstep world. Annoying thing is most my mates have only just started to get in to it... they got a lotta catching up to do

1st songs i heard.... boyfriend introduced me. Its a nice change from everything else. i love it, it just way different. it's an aquired taste and not everyone enjoys it like they should.

I was making downtempo dnb then i heard about dubstep and it was the closest thing to what I was making, maybe I heard dubstep subconsiously somewhere, definitely a good mistake because I haven't looked back since.

I dont remember...

i was only into a tiny bit of house and minimal techno but mainly rock music. then i heard rutten by skream last year and that made me curious about the genre. then i heard stuff off skull disco and joy orbison - hyph mngo and it changed my musical life. dubstep has also helped me finally 'get' uk garage which i was far too young to appreciate when i heard it years ago. kind of makes me wish i had been into dubstep from the beginning (2004-2006) cos i've missed out on so much and i'm catching up haha

Just seemed to be the natural progression from grime and the darker side of garage.
