Death is inevitable and without it life itself loses a lot of its meaning.
I like the quote that goes along the lines of 'Do not be afraid of dying, be afraid of not living.'

kI think consciousness is a property generated from a highly specific organisation of materials (similar to a computer that's just specific components in the correct arrangement). I always wonder, people who think that 'the soul' is some spooky miracle must've never wondered simple questions like "how does a calculator work? Why does a chunk of plastic and circuit shite become a calculator" People talk of reincarnation almost as if it's a transplant (which it could be, who knows) but I kinda doubt this when you consider simple energy systems and transfers etc... I guess the best study of this idea is in 'How High' where they use part of their old buddy's atoms to feed a super a cannabis plant haha
When you look at what energy (or molecules etc) are required to make a brain it doesn't seem like it could ever be limited whilst DNA is still directing life towards reproducing it... More interesting to me is how DNA could be said to be striving towards 'eternal life' by replicating it's systems into the purely mechanical world. It seems 'conscious' is a property developing in new ways etc... Who knows, in 200 years these electronic morons will probably hold the simplest of day dreams as sinister telepathic black magic

^ possibly the coolest thing I've read in a while
To me death = freedom. Cuz you're always gonna be bound by rules when you're alive, whether its recognised rules (ie society, guilt, whatever) or even pure instinct. So when you die theres nothing stopping you. So the key is to understand this, and embrace death when it comes, otherwise you'll spend your whole life searching for the next best thing and never find peace.

The only fear I have is that before death, I won't complete what I want to do. Death itself doesn't scare me, I could easily die for a good cause. The only reason I don't die right now is out of respect for my family, and curiosity.

I wouldn't say I'm afraid of dying. But at the same time I'd prefer not to die. Especially through an accident that I should have been able to prevent.

If I could live forever, I could make that one journey into many different journeys. I've already done that, to an extent.

The nothingness of death is the purest form of bliss. Why would you crave more pain and more suffering?

I don't fear death. As you guys mentioned I fear my loved one's dying, but that's an attachment to them and not an attachment to life. In the end death with come for all of us though, then we're tossed back into the cycle.

It only doesn't make sense if you view it from a subjective lens, coloured by your fear. It's the fear of death that fosters all these hurtful, and destructive belief systems. The nothingness of death makes all the sense in the world to me.

i love my life so much right now, i'll die next century...
it's the one beef i have with some of religion/mysticism is that it tries to devalue this life we have here by saying it's nothing compared to what comes next...
even if that were the case, i think that life is amazing and should be enjoyed in its fullest. it may be the only time we are us.

that's the problem, it's not possible to enjoy life to it's fullest
unless you're fucking lucky, it can always be great, but not to the full extent possible
why the fuck does the amount of money in my bank account dictate the quality of life i have, and what i can or cannot do? makes me sick

sorry dude, thats just the way it is... always have a choice though! if you wwant things that'll make you happy but you cant afford them, do something so you can get them, steal them, do something so you get more money to afford them if thats your gripe?
we live in money/possession based societies, the trick isn't to reject those societies but live in them well. i never have money, and always have money trouble, but i can nearly always find ways to do things that make me happy.
