Re: The Gear Lust Thread.
yeah they definetly are pretty sweet. i guess there's some tutorials floating about on how to build your own

Taken from http://www.djtechtools.com/2008/05/21/a ... for-djays/
-The faders are 60mm Bourns PTS seriesmouser.com/search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs=b8viK DOLiXaWB8SJ8…
-The Arcade buttons are from Happ Controls (bought on ebay)
- The middle led buttons are Shanpu surplus from All Electronics (out of stock, I think)
- The bottom led buttons are MEC 3F (surplus from Electronics Goldmine w/o keycaps). The caps had to be imported through Newark Electronics.
-The pots and knobs are from Futurelec (Alpha pots, no name black aluminum knobs)
-The screen is from Sparkfun
-The case is a 12″x12″ Hammond from Mouser, covered in faux walnut iron on melamine called Band It (from Parts Express)
-The circuit boards are from SmashTV www.avishowtech.com/mbhp/

Hmmm... I have def used an older KP2's XY pad as a midi controller before. I'm sure the KP3 has that capability.amidoinitrite wrote: I've also owned a KP3.. but sold it after 3 months!
I love the xy idea.. but they need to make it more powerful for $400. Midi out would be amazing.. but for some reason they're holding back!

Re: The Gear Lust Thread.
"With its central profusion of arcade buttons, the Midibox promises satisfaction: this is an electronic musical instrument to be pounded like a 6-button fighter. Built around a PIC microcontroller—a low cost computer chip backed by a vast library of applications—it has 16 knobs, 5 faders, 32 MIDI controlled LED buttons, and 16 arcade buttons."

if you can't afford max/msp why not look into pureData, the only real disadvantage with pureData is that it doesn't incorporate into ableton, which if you don't use it isn't an issue.wayoftheworld wrote: wish i had the funds to buy Max/Msp

i've got that on my computer but haven't spend nearly enough time with learning to program it. i did see a couple user-submitted patches that looked pretty neat, so i might take some time today to investigate further.symmetricalsounds wrote:if you can't afford max/msp why not look into pureData, the only real disadvantage with pureData is that it doesn't incorporate into ableton, which if you don't use it isn't an issue.wayoftheworld wrote: wish i had the funds to buy Max/Msp

Re: The Gear Lust Thread.
na i've briefly played with max for live, but it's just too deep and there's still plenty for me to learn with just producing. time is limited cos i've got a kid so concentrating on producing and max gets put on the to-do list along with a bazillion other things.wayoftheworld wrote:i've got that on my computer but haven't spend nearly enough time with learning to program it. i did see a couple user-submitted patches that looked pretty neat, so i might take some time today to investigate further.symmetricalsounds wrote:if you can't afford max/msp why not look into pureData, the only real disadvantage with pureData is that it doesn't incorporate into ableton, which if you don't use it isn't an issue.wayoftheworld wrote: wish i had the funds to buy Max/Msp
