Re: Reason 5
Can someone with a bit more knowledge of Reason look for this option and tell me where it is then? Like I say I haven't used Reason since version 1 and it's really daunting! I'm used to the clean GUI of Ableton

Press f4 and a window will appear with the options for midi keyboard on one tab and qwerty keyboard on the other tab, seems like you have to keep this window open at all times you want to preview notes with qwerty.
I spose its previewing the selected device just like midi works though.

I own reason 4 and honestly reason 5 didnt seem to have enough features to get me excited about. working with rex files sucks

Split the master signal into the modulation input in a vocoder and you get a rough analyzerRisky_Business wrote:After 5 versions reason still has not included a spectrum analyzer?? why? or am i missing something, im not much of a reason user.

Re: Reason 5
what about checking sub levels, and what if like me you work in an awful small overly bassy room. i enjoy working with an analyzer. Reason could be so much greater. still its not badAJGR wrote:learn to mix with your ears.Risky_Business wrote:After 5 versions reason still has not included a spectrum analyzer?? why? or am i missing something, im not much of a reason user.

Re: Reason 5
After 5 versions of Reason, people haven't realised that for a proper production setup they need to look for other solutions...?
Reason is fun to use, but it is flawed on many levels. Try Reaper, Ableton, Logic or FL Studio and move.

Re: Reason 5
Why do people always obsess over what reason doesn't have....
So u can't use VST's but u have rewire which in actual fact is just reason with a better sequencer and vst's etc

Re: Reason 5
Rewire is fiddly compared to loading up a plugin directly onto a track. I never really found using Rewire straightforward enough to want to integrate it regularly into my setup.
I've used Rewire with cubes, FL Studio and Reaper, and it all leaves a lot to be lacking. What would be far better would be to make Reason a VST, similar to how it is possible to run FL Studio as a VST!

Re: Reason 5
i got an upgrade from 4...they revamped the sequencer again....for the better this time.....although its still pretty much the same besides the kong drum designer and dr. octo rex.....
not a very impressive upgrade IMHO....you can still do things way more efficiently in other programs.....still think propellerheads need to get with it and let you import audio directly into the dr. rex thingers without having to use recycle. and why haven`t they ever added any new effects besides scream 4 and the reverb? its a fun tool to use in conjunction with a bigger daw but i still don`t think it measures up as a standalone application compared to other DAWS.

Re: Reason 5
Probably because Reason would be the best audio app out there if it actually did the things people wanted!rub-a-dubstep wrote:Why do people always obsess over what reason doesn't have....

I used it for years before getting annoyed with its limitations.

Re: Reason 5
As much as I was impressed with Kong, I don't think I'll upgrade until a get a soundcard/mic setup for some live sampling. That seems to be the real meat in this upgrade. Neptune looks kinda neat, but it doesn't seem like it could be used with any kind of consistency.
And those "block" things for song arrangement seem like useless fluff to me. I think it would bother me more than help.

Re: Reason 5
Been back on Reason 3 the last couple of weeks
main computer is f*cked
There is not a lot i actually miss from the new version apart from quick sampling and Kong for some meaty drums. Prefer the sequencer as well

Re: Reason 5
very rough.. I might be wrong but to me it appears as if the lowest bar is actually above 100Hz.. maybe even 200hz.. I've never paid too much attention to it..AllNightDayDream wrote:Split the master signal into the modulation input in a vocoder and you get a rough analyzerRisky_Business wrote:After 5 versions reason still has not included a spectrum analyzer?? why? or am i missing something, im not much of a reason user.

Re: Reason 5
I've only made use of visual analyzing one time, so i'm not really an expert on them. But I did a little side by side experiment with a couple synths and basses, using a demo analyzer (Spectrum Analyzer Pro live 2007) vs. the vocoders and eqing it down, and it looks like the very bottom bar is somewhere between 80-100Hz, and the 2 after it are in the broad range of 98-150Hz, and I haven't seen the two of them act independently of each other.amidoinitrite wrote:very rough..
