That remix is sick! Not a fan of grunge but I'm definitely interested to hear some of these remix's. Biggup

I'm embarrassed just to be on the same forum as this thread.

Was only young when Grunge was going off, but doesn't this marketing gimmick fly in the face of a lot of the Seattle bands general ethos?

It really is chalk and cheese. So frustrating it's come down to this, really.

marketing gimmick? how? im promoting music that i want to hear... where does the gimmick part come in?

its a free compilation, FREE... im sure seattle bands would do more than i have to promote a kind of music, just by putting up flyers, which i havent even done yet..

its funny to see all the dubstepforum folks freak out over one little post about remixes of 90s music... cuz 80s flashback music, that apparently doesn't bother ANYONE...lol but 90s music...

There's a general train of thought that some bands shouldn't be remixed. Grunge supposedly captured a moment in time, and because of that, is held in high esteem. To tamper with it seems pointless as you're always going to be left with something that never quite hits the same level... not to mention it screams "novelty"
But fuck it. There are always going to be people to try. I was in a bad mood, so just disregard whatever I said. "It's only 'cos I care"

There's no option for "Those two genres don't gel together well and it all seems a bit clichéd and gimmicky to me. Can't we just make some real music instead?"

3 of the options are FOR remixing grunge tracks and the one left over is only allowing you to say your some kind of elitist 90's grunge fan that won't have any of the songs touched because THEY'RE JUST TOO SPECIAL! Seems like a pretty biased poll to me...most people that don't wanna listen to the music are gonna click on the top or bottom option just so they don't look like an idiot..

It should read as follows

"How excited are you about a Grungestep Compilation CD?

1. Not at all, I have no interest in this.
2. Extremely I think this is the best idea ever.
3. I think it could be ok but I'm not gonna go out of my way to hear the results."
