Was re-reading da posts and I agree with Numaestro in that its a great thing for the da city, restaurants hotels etc... but I think music=culture and it should be accesible to everybody... Sonar entrances have gone up and up in price year after year to the point where not everybody can afford to go there.... I was more or less working out how much an avarge person spends only in the Sonar not counting hotels etc. and I reckon 300€ the least multiply that by the amount of people that go and that makes a lot of money.... of course its a lot of money setting it up, but the profit is still big.... and where does it go??? I admire the Glastonbury filosofy where you informed of the numbers and they tell you where your money goes to.... the profits go to charitable causes (high percentage).... ADMIRABLE.

hi, here's my 2 cents

I lived in new york for many years and we dream of festival like this... moby gave it a try a few years back and he lost money...

the reason sonar works is because
1.its in barcelona
2.its right before major holidays for spanish people so there's plenty of partying going around
3.how sonar used to be still sells the new pop sonar that it is(beasty boys?
4.the most important, really no matter how much u say its too expensive, people do come regardless, and yes 80,000 people came last year. if you have been to barcelona you know its a small city and 80,000 good looking young people sweating could make up for what u pay.

I will allways support anything musical and will def be hitting up the day shows because to be honest i like more experimental stuff. Another factor is that even when they do have music i like at night ,only the techno rooms really fill up and that is really noticeable when u are rocking out to mrk1 and you turn around to see a half empty soom. that has nothing to do with the music being unknown its just that they never really go all the way with one idea in the rooms that i like-for example,I had no idea about what time the dubstep was on friday but know its no surprize to me that there is dubstep at the very begining of the night because that room does not get even half full by the time its 3 or 4 am. typical. yeah skream and mary and kode playing to about 100 people in a room of a 1000 and a half with the soundsystem at a not-loud-enough-to-get-sued-level.

if u want sound and dubstep along some good breakore than u will want to come by the sweaty amazing cave- La Cova

believe me comparing to sonar its quite a deal. hopefully headz will show to see the dubstep at sonar and maybe come right after to our ish. I can't afford to pay sonars price to leave happy after seeing these dubstep acts live but terribly upset seeing how they treat another of my favorite music choices(after dnb/jungle)

biggup sonar for opening doors , hopefully they wont do to dubstep what they did with dnb-jungle

very important- THE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN PUTTING THIS PARTY TOGETHER AT LA COVA WORKED ON THIS BEFORE THEY ANNOUNCED THE LINE-UP AT SONAR. IT WAS A SURPRIZE TO THEM ACTUALLY BECAUSE NORMALLY SONAR WOULDN'T TAKE A RISK ON MUSIC LIKE THIS. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE DOPE ALTERNATIVE, NOT SOME ANTI-SONAR TRASH RAVE! IF ANYTHING THEY ARE QUITE ANNOYED BECAUSE NOW THEY CAN'T SEE THESE ACTS AS THEIR NIGHT WILL BE ON ASWELL.

Cool, as I said I wasn't trying to be disrespectful, I'm sure you are asked to play at a lot of parties. I was just interested to know the reasoning behind it. Thanks for your answer, keep up the good work. :Q:
