Re: Mix Length
Yeah I'm thinking maybe 30 minutes. I also thought about something last night. I want it to be in 320 or atleast up there and I want something that people can download in under a day haha. Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as a prick with the middle finger lol I just love flicking people off. I'm not trying to be egotistical. Like I said, I'm UNKNOWN as shit. Also since my first post I feel like people have been giving me a lot of shit instead of just giving me some input. Whatever. Don't get the wrong idea. I'm here to shoot the shit with some like minded individuals. I feel like anytime I talk about production or dj'ing or anything my friends look at me like I'm speaking a different language.
I am really lucky to be alive, first of all. I suffered from a serious brain trauma. I walked out of a house party after the DJ trainwrecked and went to the edge of a balcony with like 50-60 people dancing and a I thought, "Wouldn't it be crazy if this bitch collapsed?" and it was almost like like my thoughts triggered it. Really crazy. I don't know what this life is all about but I feel for some reason this is the path that it is meant for me. I don't think that my equipment is going to take me anywhere. I will be the deciding factor in failure or success. And hopefully I will gain some knowledge from the resources on this awesome board and all the wonderful people here.

Re: Mix Length
Yeah in allseriousness 30 minutes. Maybe a little more if you mix slow, but 30 minutes with 10 tracks is a good gauge of... And itll keep you from power mixing through tunes faster then people get vibe off them.
and that def. musta sucked, at least your alright.
Fail to see the relevance, cool story bro...MarkMurder wrote:I am really lucky to be alive, first of all. I suffered from a serious brain trauma. Re: Mix Length
please don't use ableton for this. if you're gonna use ableton abandon all notions of traditional "djing" and get buckwild with it. but don't simply mix songs in and out of each other.

Re: Mix Length
heyy sorry i came off as such an asshole... tbh it's true that I'm just jealous, but also sympathetic.
My good friend was just involved with a settlement from being creamed by a car, and he gets these fits of pain that look really bad.
He's got money now, but it's not worth it he says every day if he could, he'd trade it back for health...
So, yea... sry again.

Re: Mix Length
That's what I'm gonna do. Thats the point of doing it through Ableton. Getting crazy with it and all the awesome effects. Mixing like 5 elements from 5 different tracks at the same time. Maybe learning how to play some cool reggae songs on my synth and adding my own phat bassline for example. (I KNOW I'm not a master producer) I learned how to sidechain the gate recently and that has had some pretty interesting outcomes. This whole thing is an experiment and a learning experience. I know the obvious way to make a mixtape is to DJ. I feel like in doing this the way that I am, I will learn some things about phrasing and transitions and other things that will transcend over to the DJ'ing realm.qwaycee_ wrote:please don't use ableton for this. if you're gonna use ableton abandon all notions of traditional "djing" and get buckwild with it. but don't simply mix songs in and out of each other.
Re: Mix Length
i can sum this all up with a big fat
WHO CARES ANYMORE
this thread is retarded

It's reached the point where you're going to either have to come up with a mix for us to listen to, or else step away from the thread. Fair play, if you can get 5 tracks or whatever running in Ableton, doing live remixing work on them and adding additional sounds over the top from your synth at the same time, that does sound interesting.
But it's put up or shut up time
