Nothing against the DECENT hype stuff - i include it in my sets.

BUT Half the stuff ive heard recently ISNT dubstep. It's sound at 140 bpm which gets classed as dubstep.

I think its that reason why they arent popular with 'the originators'.

the in your face brostep tunes are great for big clubs and parties. people like to get fucked up and rage to it all night. only thing is, these tunes leave little room to think.

deep tracks offer space and soundscapes. i dont think deep tracks will ever be more popular than hyped up brostep tracks because most people these days have REEEEEALLLY SHORT attention spans. a minute or so of ambient noises before the bass/beat drops frustrates the average person because they want to hear the loud stuff right away.

so i think that might be why 'deep heads' "hate" on it. pretty sure it's just as much of a complaint on society as it is a complaint on the actual tunes

also, i think what is now considered as 'dubstep' to the mainstream or first time listeners is so different from the true underground sound that
the real dubby dubstep can breath again and people are picking up on it..... which spurs them onto a vast catalogue of great timeless tunes.

i do love a bit of 'aggs' but as darkside said production wise it has to be on a level when dealing with a desired outcome of mass appeal.

music is subjective at the end of the day and you can only like what you connect with, dont be force fed music.

that's the best post i've read in this thread. look at artists like coki & breakage and you get heavy tunes with that original dubstep emotion & flavor.
also, cockney thug is the last brostep track i've heard that i've really dug as well.

Also, producers like Lost and others on HENCH put out absolute bangers that everyone enjoys. It's all about doing whatever you're doing, but doing it well.

Yeah I do struggle to think of tunes! I told a lie, I fucking love Spongebob as well.

I honestly don't consider myself a 'deep' head (well maybe a little emo) (no homo), I like some of the rowdiest Grime and plenty of big tunes. Just not this current trend of ultra teeth growly moshing styles and sounds, that's kinda why I stopped listening to a lot DnB and started listening to Dubstep in the first place.

i think that the tear out stuff is generally very unpleasant to listen to, not just in a production quality kind of way but in a physical way. it actually HURTS my eardrums listening to this music.

someone mentioned on the first page, deep heads like the deeper sounds because they thats how it originally sounded and there is a lot of emotion attached to that. i cant agree with this more, i remember my first ever dubstep rave, it was a DMZ @ Mass back in 2006 i think... i have never experienced bass like that!!

now i really dislike how the scene is moving and that people relatively new to the scene just assume dubstep is meant to be chainsaw noises.

there are some tear out producers out there that i do like though, probably because their production is of a good quality.

its quite hard to find tunes that are the 'middle' ground, but there are definitely some out there. i cant get enough of Pinch -swish atm!!

probably because that side has wayyyy too many followers production wise and not enough innovators
the endless onslaught of "how do i make a bass like flavor of the month producer threads on the production board can attest to that"
these guys want to be generic carbon copies of the guys who actually innovate and forged out their own distinct style and sound
that's what tends to rub me the wrong way
