i'm not very happy with my basslines.
not talking about hte pressure or something (imho it's not understandable why so many people ask how a heavy sub is made...).
i'm talking about the...... thing i can't say haha...
it's probably just the right feel to it i'm still looking for.

i've been a bass player for nigh on 20 years now, so i shouldn't have a problem writing basslines. in fact the writing part i think i'm ok on, i can mostly get the groove i'm after with drums, bass and harmony, but i do stumble on melody, partly because i'm really picky and over critical of cheese-levels.
after a bit of a purple patch of producing i'm finding myself stuck in loops trying to break out of them and progress, but as my house, job and health are all a little in danger, i'm not suprised!
what i'm liking about moving over to making 'bass music' is the range of beats, feelings and tempos i can play around with, the only problem is narrowing down. i say 'only' problem, it's a biggy!

I think my main problem it always seems is getting my noises to sound wide enough, its been an ongoing issue. I also would like to know more about classical music composition and orchestration and how to use more "old world instruments" wrather than mostly synths. Also I know my knowledge of compression/limiting is still developing but I can always seem to learn more about those types it seems.

For me It's defently adding builds and declines on my songs.
They usually have a pretty constant volume, and I find it extremely hard to get a good build going.
And then have the beat drop.
I find it very hard to link those two together and smooth it out.

Making my tracks sound "full" I think. I don't think I've developed a bassline I'm really fond of. Need more variation in my drums, more interesting fills etc.
I always get pissed whenever the waveform doesn't look big or give off enough sound to look good when you put it into Traktor.

I'm another bassline hater atm
Before, I knew nothing about getting sounds right, as soon as I learn. The writer's block hits...

Mixing is wayyy to difficult for me, but imo im sure it is for majority.. transitions / endings are a bitgg of a predicament for me as well but practice makes perfect. got to go after the difficult things to get it some how..

Right now it's the space part of "space, pace and bass." I'm going to focus on leaving more space in my compositions.
Previously, I had problems with hihats and structure. I resolved these by programming hats subtractively (paste a bunch, then delete some) and by including a break and build in the middle.

Programming drums. I can get a kind of rhythm but jungle breaks still elude me
