we say jay-z's old stuff is good now, but when blueprint came out, no one cared. he was waaaay overshadowed by biggie, tupac and nas. he had to wait for two of those rappers to die before he made it big

Jay-Z's career didn't coincide with neither Biggie's nor Tupac's careers. They both died before his second album came out.
