Without being to shameless that really does sound a bit like me... Which is sad really, cause there's no place for that in Denmark.

I would take that idea one more step and say that the best format for a decent night/club is to have just one DJ for the whole night. I'm thinking Ron Hardy@the Music Box, Juniour Vasques@The Sound Factory. These DJs became ledgenary because they had the club set up spesificaly for them and were able to build their set over a whole night.

that's in the U.S. Here we have lists of DJ at gigs with a headliner at the top. I can't think of many or any clubs in the U.K. who have just one resident actually. But I don't see why people don't try going back to that?

I wud get knackered/too pissed if I played a set all night! Think DJ EZ did that a few yrs ago, musta been immense.

haha i've got my first DJ set next friday and have been crafting a nice "deep tearout" set, just heard my slot has been moved to the opener... time to go back to the drawing board! Cosmin TRG will save me

Yeah he did a new years day set last year @ Indigo. 8 hours!

Lately with the popularity of the filthy stuff, it seems like many djs go straight to that in the club. I was at a show a few weeks ago with a dj playing skrillex, datsik, etc in the back room at 10 p.m., when I was literally the only one in there besides the poor sound gy....Needless to say, I wasn't in there for long. I didn't go back either...Just stayed in the downbeat / hip-hop room which had a great vibe and appropriate music.

I personally love playing after the headliner, say between 2 and 5 in the a.m. (even later at outdoor parties) as it gives me a chance to play psychedelic stuff mixed with dance floor friendly tunes...Really play with people's heads. There isn't much pressure to bang it out, and you can really have fun mixing a variety of styles together to create a vibe.
