Thoughts on FM8 synthesis

just tired it in sytrus: Selfmodulation sounds different then using a different oscillator with the same settings.

^^^^ those videos were great, but theres one thing ive always wondered about FM8, is it possible to have an envelope on a "carrier modulating itself amount" would make two identical carriers and having one modualte the other be the same thing?

yeAH just make another carrier of the exact same setting and it will be the same as modulating itself

I literally finally wrapped my head around fm8 like 3 days ago. i was always intimidated by it and i finally just sat down and said, "ok im gonna do this."
i made a really cool boards of canada style pad, distorted but mellow. im pretty excited about it.

as far as buying it, isnt it like 200 bucks? id save up for kontakt honestly, unless you have other ni stuff... but yeah its pretty awesome. i think im gonna post this sound in the interesting sound you made thread..
