Just given the other side of the perspective from OP.

Since I'm a science-oriented person I reserve the right to be wrong in light of new information. Thank you for highlighting the possible differences in software capability, I will look in to so I can become more aware of the area.

I'm still not buying one any time soon though!

I've had two 'smart(er)phones' in the past. They froze, didn't have enough battery life, etc. It's nice technology, I'm not one of those 'IT'S A PHONE GODDAMNIT, YOU USE IT TO TEXT AND CALL' heads, 'cause by that logic, we shouldn't be making music on computers either, seeing as they're basically just calculators. I just don't think the technology is stable or efficient enough yet for phones.

I'll jump on the smartphone bandwagon when the technology's better.

Apple has about 30% smart phone market share and only makes 3 phones. They also have content on lockdown.

Pretty good going for a company who's only been making phones since 07.

Most non-tech/geek people just want a phone that's easy to work, looks good and has some cool features. Iphone ticks these boxes.

I find the iphone hate funny.

Nokia/MS could be a killer combo if Nokia sort out their hardware. I mean, they have about 500 different models of phone which are only about 66% as good as they could/should be. Apple are doing really well with the iPhone because they've poured all of their resources into just one product. I'm still backing Android though - I don't think anyone can compete with Google and the price at which they sell their OS: free.
