Can someone tell me what the big deal about the chainer? (i think it's now called patcher?)

New to production (4 or so months worth of exp), so would love to know why people are jizzing all over the place about it haha

Yeah it just seems a little like too much clutter when they could assign the windows tabs or something of the sort.

I've got 5 windows always in a static position, the playlist, the piano roll, the mixer, the step sequencer, and the browser. I can see all of them, all the time, no f'ing tabbing or paging to see different windows, I see everything all at once. They stay in the same place, so I never have to hunt for them. For plugins and what not, I just leave em all up when I'm working on a particular piece of something, and just ESC them when done. You don't even need to mouse over and close the window. If your hand is properly in the claw position, over shift ctrl and alt (as almost every function in fruity is accessible with combinations of those keys and the three mouse buttons) you just jump up and hit ESC, and the window is gone. You can also save window layouts in fruity. And all of its windows are accessible with F keys.

If you don't like how fl's windows are managed, you have the power to make it how you want.

I was thinking about it this morning and it's really useful for putting only part of your sound through a certain plugin, such as high passing before hand. I think also the fact that you can save presets in it is going to make complex plugin chains very simple to load and edit

I've 'obtained' it and I'd like to say... It lives up to all expectations. So good.

Nobody makes fun of FL anymore, that's like, so 2005 man.

The *only* people I see talking about how much hate it gets these days are FL users. I think you guys like to feel like a minority :p when actually Reason gets about 10x more shit and even that doesn't get ripped on as much as it used to.

Reason does get a tun of hate, so do the nazzis. Coincidence?

Build layered instruments, elaborate freq splitting schemes etc with a lot less hassle. Think of having Reason's Combi on steroids with VST and audio support inside FL.

OMG! and I thought I was excited before you said this...in other words, its awesome

AFter using it extensively for the last day or so.. I can quite happily say what I hate and what I love about it...


HATE : Loads of GUI and shortcut changes, how you have to press shift to make a loop marker..the zoom in and out function is confusing and a bit buggy, the large mixer is to large and I have a fairly decent resolution (1440x900) ... Nothing really seems to sit right on screen, as opposed to 9 where I had quite a nice little routine of where to place things.


LOVE : 64 bit support.. The new mixer's lay out and prettiness (despite its size like I said above), its a lot better on the eyes mixing down, overall stable performance with the new upgrades, ive only seen around 2-3% more CPU increase (thats impressive, from cubase 4 > 5 I got like a 10-20%.) the new piano roll is amazing...

I haven't tucked into any plugins yet but I ain't that bothered about them.

Can't you keep the small mixer tracks, imo one of the greatest features about fl.

Do ctrl and alt plus scroll wheel still work to zoom vertically and horizontally? If so, get on that cause it doesn't get easier than that.

Yeah you can switch to small mixer tracks but I prefer the other one hahaa!

Also, yes they do work but they're buggy! Sometimes ctrl + scroll don't work though .

Oh shit. Lemme ask you this. If all the 9.x releases have been betas, WHY THE FUCK IS 10 RELEASED AS A BETA? Haven't they already beta'ed all this shit out?
