Honestly each has their strong points and their methods to achieving them. Massive takes like 2 seconds to whip up any kind of quick bass, so it's good for quickly getting ideas out, and if you spend some time tweaking it, you can do whatever you want with it. It's the synth that's easiest to automate. FM8 is a god among men. Seriously, if you know anything about FM synthesis easy shit. Absynth sounds really great too, but i haven't really dove into it.
If you want a super versatile synth, get reaktor. Haha, Komplete has turned me into a native-instruments salesmen.

how do you figure, im not including the FM knob in the modulation section.

If i had the money i'd buy komplete and probably ditch everything else as it has everything i'd ever need...and more!

massive is a combination of wavetable, subtractive and phase modulation synthesis.

bc it mostly works with wave tables

Another bundle of synths to consider is fxpansion's dcam synth squad. The last time it was on sale it was $99.

another bunch of synths that sound fucking cool but i didn't enjoy programming them.

are synthsquad that interesting, demos make em sound like very rubbish tools

sound wise i liked them, i generally don't look at the demos but just jump in and program a patch from scratch.

I like massive, but i'll always bounce it down and do a little resampling if its needed... I dont know if its because ive been using massive longer than i've been using Ableton, but i'd prefer massive as its easier to use.. for me atleast.

massive is a combination of wavetable, additivew/some subtractive qualities* and phase modulation synthesis.
additive,additive,additive
fixd for u

massive isn't an additive synth, don't know where you got that from?

THE "trifonic" fm8 tutorials are really good, just search trifonic
