I really don't like that you can't see the actual waveforms in Massive. I feel so blind in it a lot of the time. Same with the EQ, like "Frequency"? What frequency.... where? It's just a knob! That being said I use it all the time, but Massive is surprisingly weak sounding a lot of the time in my experience, a synth like Albino 3 or Gladiator I often get a much richer sound faster.

hmmmmm... if thats how u feel.. its aight.. and i wont deny that.. but...Kombatant wrote:I really don't like that you can't see the actual waveforms in Massive. the samples in the wavetable synth are what they are, sounds. You do know that these ''images'' of waves we are used to, are simply a (somewhat arbitrary) representation of a sonic phenomenon, right? they're a convention... sounds dont actually look like that... and the oscillation traveling thru the air is more likely to look like some kind of spheric phenomenon...
console eqs look more like the massive eq then the paragraphic eq we are used to nowadays... (altho i agree that written values would actually help)... i c it as a creative effect, more then an eq... and use it very rarely too... its not a bad thing that its there tho...
hwv... if u really feel like u need to see them, stick that shit on ur massive channel

Re: Massive's Wavetables?
just curious, but does anyone know how these wavetables were made? like from real life-recordings and processing or from other synths?
Re: Massive's Wavetables?
I've been making tons of reeses lately so I usually use some combination of saws, lunacy, and maybe scrap yard.
Lunacy is probably the most boring wave table by itself, but if you get the phase and the wt-position in just the right spot it sounds amazing.
+1 on the phase modulationAtaxia wrote:Carbon is pretty good; it's got alot of good harmonics to it. Scrapyard is good, especially if you automate the w/t position.
Of course, using the phase modulation can make any oscillator go fucking crazy. It's incredible.
Modern talking is kinda cool, although a bit overused. It's funny how everyone assumes every talking bass is just massive, modern talking, filter, LFO cutoff.
Flanders is pretty good. Modulating the wavetables on scrapyard yields some pretty messed up shit; using the phase mod would really bug it out.

Re: Massive's Wavetables?
Ive been doing a lot of modulating of the intensity knobs, not used as much but works really welly with the right wavetables in conjuction with modulating the WT position

Re: Massive's Wavetables?
only saw and sine, i dont really like to modulate the sound inside the synth

Re: Massive's Wavetables?
i think lunacy is the only more interesting waveform, can get some sexy reeses out of it when finding those sweet spots no doubt.Sine69 wrote:Lunacy is probably the most boring wave table by itself, but if you get the phase and the wt-position in just the right spot it sounds amazing.
Re: Massive's Wavetables?
well you pretty much have zero reasons for using Massive then, no?hubsahubsa wrote:only saw and sine, i dont really like to modulate the sound inside the synth

For me, Sonic hits the sweet spot.

Re: Massive's Wavetables?
I hate modern talking because of the really corny sound it has when you modulate the wt position but when you don't use it like that it's not bad

i don't have fixed tables, although i find myself using chrome and scrap yard a lot.
