that snare has probably (no I didn't listen, but his snares often sound this way) been brickwalled and probably layered with some white noise for the high end fizz
Use parametric EQ2 and boost the main snare at around 200hz

Now that is an idea I like the sound of.

Never thought of that.
I think I've pretty much got the Skrillex snare down. Used it in 'Walk The Plank'.

bassinine wrote:Another thing that never gets mentioned - make your different snare samples start at SLIGHTLY different times when you are layering them. For example, have 2 snare samples hit on the grid, have 1 start a few ms before, and 1 a little later. Do this, on top of a highpassed kick or even a Tom around 150-200hz to add more punch.
THIS. Discovered this by accident a while ago - it's amazing how thick it can make your snare sound. You have to have the right samples though.

I've made something I feel could classify as a skrillex-type snare, but where can I upload it?

Maybe more audible sub could help

How do we know that he made it ?
That's what sort of puzzles me, if we are wondering about how some artist made a certain sound, shouldn't we also think that maybe they just got it from a pack and added affects to it ?
Or maybe I'm just nub.
