just found this blast from the past of a thread...
Honolulu's only all-dubstep event, Speaker's Corner, had its third episode take place last night, the first time at Soho in Chinatown...
In short, it was off the hook. The dancefloor was pretty packed of people of all types. Rivers of bass flowed through the streets of downtown Honolulu that night, and it was a rare treat for my inner organs to rumble while my brain was liquidized.
Big ups to DJ Packo from SIQ Records for dropping Purple City... always wanted to hear what that sounded like on a big system, and now I know why the genre has such club potential.
Also big ups to the other dubstep DJs holding it down here, Jamz, TKO, Victor J and Thread.
With any luck they'll be there every fourth Saturday if you want to come on down and check it out...

Aw man I totally forgot to promote my own event here that happened 2 weeks ago in Honolulu...
Mochipet is coming to town this Saturday. He's pretty talented, and I remember buying the Sharmaji drums remix of one of his tracks (which was actually much better than the original) a year or two ago.
As a dubstep fan I'm interested, but I'm also anti-gimmickry, so there's no way I'm gonna pay $20+ to watch some guy dressed up in a dinosaur costume push "play" on Ableton.
