Even though i'm not a big fan of their tunes, the ctrl-z masterclass was also one of the most informative videos I have seen.

I can still never bear watching after they start talking about the natural analogue 128-ness of a mobile phone. Why is that guy so pleased with himself? I'm sure there's some good stuff in there, I wish you could skip through vimeo vids.

They seemed like jokers, they laughed quite a bit in there when I saw it. You can skip around once it's fully loaded though. It reminded me of the TeeBee/Calyx studio video where they later said they basically just lied the whole time for fun.

I wasn't dissing them, just seemed off. Seems like they do things quite roughly which was not what I expected given their sound. Though still not seen more than 5 mins in.

Well yeah tbh, there wasn't a lot of actual technical stuff at all. I didn't get anything from it other than seeing they seemed like nice guys. Though, I haven't really got anything from any masterclasses besides an interesting peak into people's studios. Not everything is so technical though, just goes to show some people put too much thought into things sometimes.

I had this thought earlier today reading through some "how to make this bass" threads. I sometimes feel that some people put more effort into trying to get the craziest bass sound with changes every two seconds and playing only one or two notes rather than actually learning how to play basslines.

IMHO. Controversial opinion perhaps...

No I totally agree, been on DOA for many years and there's people who will spend literally WEEKS on reeses and bass noises, but even though they sound cool, they don't do anything particularly interesting.

You should have heard them when they were smashing the psy-trance scene way back in 2000.
Now it`s all cheese for the american market.

Did anyone else think the Avicii was just embarrassing for him? Like every sample was something that one of his producer friends had gave him, The synths were all presets, loads of standard loops used. There was hardware gear in the studio to, which he said he hadn't even used yet.. Who gets hardware gear and doesn't test that shit out?
Any feedback on my songs will be returned

I concur. That one was great.

(Wait, is this one supposed to be in the Flylo Redbull thread? Should be probably).

i'm about 3/4 through it but I remember him saying right away he goes back and messes with the sounds later. did you see how quickly he was able to work? he's practically finished a whole song in an hour and a half. I do hate that he uses loops though, that's kinda shitty. but if that's what he does to get to his final products which I mostly love, i'm all for it.
