You guys are suggesting alot of stuff that has no bearing on renders at all, like drivers, and buffer size.

Buffering is how far in advance your soundcard renders something when playing it back, clearly, when rendering it, it renders the whole thing

stru wrote:Okay, instead of replying to everyone of you I'll just reply in general.

If I keep the volume of the master and all the others at its default, it obviously hits red. So what I usually do is turn down the master a few decibels and that'll sometimes fix the problem (such as the track in my signature). But that isn't fixing the case this time. My track isn't "clipping" visually anymore, none of the sounds are hitting the red anymore, yet the mixdown still seems crappy. I'm sure it just needs better compression, but the point I was trying to make was it sounded perfect before any adjustments in ASIO and I want it to render how it sounds in ASIO. Yet from my understanding, it looks like that isn't possible so I need to look into a different audio driver and/or better sound card. Wonderful
Teknicyde has said that rendering is independent of your soundcard and i believe him haha. So assuming stru's mix is right as nothing looks like it is clipping in that vid he posted, does that mean it could be a CPU or RAM issue if sound cards/drivers are irrelevant?

wait i worded that wrong i think.

Basically:
If your soundcard and drivers sound good pre render then its not a soundcard or render problem?
If you have set your levels right it won't clip on render either.
Is there a possibility that he is dithering more then once, i dont know what he has on his master channel but that could fuck shit up?
And if all the above is fine, could it be a CPU, RAM or some technical computer glitch i don't understand that could be causing the problem?
And also this:

Sample Interpolation - Select the waveform interpolation method used for Sampler/Audio-Clip channels. Interpolation is a curve fitting process that computes intermediate sample amplitude data between the known sample points (filling in the gaps). This is only required when samples are transposed from their original pitch and the program calls for a sample value out of sync with the source data-points. Without interpolation quantizing (amplitude) errors can create unwanted high-frequency harmonic artifacts (aliasing & quantizing errors). FL Studio provides several methods of increasing computational complexity and therefore accuracy -
Linear interpolation is the fastest method. It provides basic linear averaging between samples, however it can result in aliasing (high frequency noises) if samples are transposed far from their original pitch.
6-point Hermite has been optimized to be a quick curve interpolation method with superior quality to linear interpolation. It is ideal for exporting 'working drafts' of your audio files.
64, 128, 256, 512-point Sinc methods provide increasing quality interpolation, but they are also very slow. We recommended that you use at least 64-point Sinc on your final render, or better still, the maximum Sinc value that you are prepared to wait to finish rendering.
This video covers Aliasing and Interpolation.
NOTE: There is an independent live audio interpolation set on the F10 > Audio Settings, Mixer section. If different Mixer and Render interpolation options are set, this can cause the live and rendered audio to sound different, specifically in the high frequency regions. Aliasing can create a 'false' high frequency brightness. Setting the live interpolation method to 64-point sinc will minimize this problem, should it arise.

I think it must be one of these issues

go to your bounce options and check your sample rate.... when your bouncing shit to disk aka making your session in flstudio show up on your desktop as a wav, it should be exported at 48k idealy 96k if your comp can handle it... check thoes and let me know... those settings mean the quality in bits that each sound is getting exported as.. if its at a lower setting then what your listening to it in flstudio ie your listening at 48k but exporting lower then that your track will sound like sheeeet. :? tries it.

Are you using just FL generators and effects? You could post the flp file.

Poor advice. Increasing the sample rate wont cure distortions on a bounce. 48k? pretty much only if your intending to use your sounds for film, otherwise 44.1khz is the CD standard. If you bounce to 96k, you'l have to dither down to 44.1 (causing more problems than necessary) to get it on cds etc...

Recording instruments though, thats a diferent ball game..

I watch your video OP, and I cant seem to pin down why its sounding odd.
Can you post a clip here of the end result, I may be able to help then.

The fuck is that supposed to mean? I'm curious to know what's going on and the OP doesn't really seem to be doing a great job of communicating his way through a troubleshooting session.

If you're implying I am out to steal his work, fuck you.

I think I needs new computer D:

Ehh, I'll just render it at a low ass volume and normalize it for now I guess :|

wow, shameless.
both times

When someone explains something to me I most certainly never say, "dude I don`t understand, please send me your file so I can figure it out."
I never said you were trying to steal his work.
I just insinuated that you were a lazy fucker out to be spoon fed.
Make the distinction please.

To be fair I offer to let people send me project files or stems anytime they need help with something, it really improves my ability to see whats going wrong and also you cant quite beat having it there to look at once Ive figured out where you've gone wrong, corrected it, and now you can take notes and apply these techniques in your own creative way later now that Ive shown them to you... And youll find no-one on hear accusing me of not knowing my stuff, looking to be spoon fed, being lazy, or trying to steal, they know Im just hear to help where i can because noone helped me learn and I feel like karma might get me back somehow if I help someone else where i wasnt able to find it... make some kinda sense?

I don't know if anybody has answered you already, but I had the EXACT same problem, and I actually figured out how to fix it just today. What the problem was for me, was that in FL, anytime it was on "Primary sound driver" it sounded like crap, and that's actually the more honest way to listen to it. Whenever I used Asio4all it sounded amazing, it boosted the bass, the highs, it just sounded a lot cleaner, so I was thinking my stuff was sounding great, when it really wasn't.

What the problem is, is that your soundcard is coloring the sound. The way to fix this, is to right click on your sound icon at the bottom right of windows, and select "playback devices". Now here, everybody's will be different, but right click on your device, and select "Properties". Now, select the "enhancements" tab, and check the box that says "disable all sound effects."

Now, if you go back into FL, ASIO and primary sound drivers will both sound like crap, but this is a good thing, because that's what it really sounds like. Now you can work towards getting it to sound that good again, but for real this time.

Try it yourself. It doesn't mater what DAW because it's an issue with the soundcard/OS. I have Ableton as well, and it's the same thing in that.
