I haven't listened - yet - but I am interested in the fact that all of the complaints about it revolve around nebulous, non-objective, essentially indefensible bromides. ("It has no groove"??)

Makes some of you guys look like cranky, pretentious douche bags.

No interest in defending the album at all, just an observation.

Not many people review tracks by explicitly referencing mathematical formulas for 'objective' comparison but people generally have a pretty good implicit understanding of the mathematical foundations of music that they judge by (such as being in tune, in time etc)... though people's bending of the rules make it interesting and I don't think James Brown would have sounded quite so cool using straight 4/4 drum machine rhythms and autotuned vocals

I just don't think this is really korn's style and personally don't really like it, still I read somewhere that since this lp their likes on facebook have gone up by over 3 million... must be a lot of people out there that do like it

Have you heard the album? Stating it "has no groove" is a perfect way to describe every mundane track on the album.

Stop picking fights. If you have nothing constructive to say don't bother pressing that reply button.

Also the arrangements of each piece is so boring and predictable. Not yet have I heard any dynamics in any song. Singing is awful as well as the overdubs. Some good breaks here and there. Unoriginal sounds used throughout.

It's as if I have already heard this album.

was really surprised at how lazy this whole thing sounds, like the songs with noisia have no trace of noisia in them and the feed me track sounds so messy with that shuffly break underneath the rest of the crap there. personally i don't like brostep but i can appreciate good production and all that. this is definitely not a case of that though. some of the songs sound pretty amateur compared to the what the artists involved normally make, especially the excision and noisia tunes.

i expected something far less shit than this out of a group of producers that big and i definitely was not looking forward to this album lol...

It's just so incredibly dull, barely even a departure from their normal kind of sound. And what the fuck has this even got to do with dubstep!? Even the "bro-step" type production is really muted. :H:

Listened to 2 tracks and I was thinking the same thing. Imo it doesn't even sound like the standard "Brostep" anymore. For instance the track Illuminati, that track sounded more like a metal track to me tbh.

Then again, I only listened to 2 tracks, didn't like them and I can't be bothered to listen to any of the rest.
Also, I have never listened to a single Korn song before in my life and after listening to only 2 tunes the voice of the singer was already heavily annoying me.

To be honest they never really bettered this...

saw this on the other thread:

Sputnikmusic strongly criticized the album giving it a score of 0.5/5 stating that "The Path Of Totality is a truly horrible album, built on a foundation of tired and overwrought stereotypes put together not by just a clueless band, but a bunch of equally confused artists who truly have no proper understanding of the genre they claim to be a part of".
lol.

My favourite line from that review is...
The Path Of Totality is an album that doesn’t work because it tries to be something it’s not; no, it fails because of not just its terrible premise but its truly dreadful execution, to the point where you forget that this was put together by experts and start to compare it to the musical output of any idiot with a laptop.
Like Skrillex? :cornlol:

I couldn't really see anybody dropping them tunes and them going off. Seems like they're just cashing in on something that has become popular.

No, it's a cheap insult to be directed at something you don't like, but either can't say why or won't admit why because the real reason reveals the pettiness of your opinion.
Stop picking fights. If you have nothing constructive to say don't bother pressing that reply button.
Oh, fuck you. This entire thread is dedicated to saying whatever the alternative to something "constructive" would be.

jokes. either way korn haven't been good for like 10 years. i actually saw them when i went to download many moons ago and they were shocking then. not sure why people would expect anything but garbage from a 'dubstep' album. listened to that get up song and decided that i would go no further. eugh
