Really? That's really strange to me. I would think that....since it is technically a different track, the remixer could release it whenever he pleased? Is that prohibited due to copyright reasons? Or what?

I'm under the impression, that you could just change the name of a track, so it isn't a "remix" and then technically you could release without needing permission, right? (I'm not telling / asking you to do this, i'm just posing a theoretical question.)
