Not try to sound daft here but I have a Xone 22 and I was under the impression that gain was controlled by the nobs up top labeled "level". Maybe it's different by model?murky21 wrote:i find im completely used to it now, just like turning any of the other knobspikeymobile wrote:Yeah I do really hate the gain nobs being on the back of my a&h, but the filters and EQs more than make up for it

Re: mixers
so which ones better, the nuo 2.0 or the xone 22? i've heard positive and negative things about both so i'm not sure. just had a bad experience with the nuo 3.0 so i favor the a&h right now.
Re: mixers
what bad experience with the nuo? it's a basic mixer with top notch sound.
the a&h has a shitty filter with lots of ground/hum issues.

Re: mixers
i bought a second hand one and it's not working properly, constantly makes a loud noise.and the eq knobs feel a bit loose eventhough i like their size.
Re: mixers
If you'd ask 100 experts about A&H filters, 95% will say they are top.south3rn wrote:what bad experience with the nuo? it's a basic mixer with top notch sound.

EQ knobs are indeed a bit loose but they're really big, that's what I like about them. sound should be crystal clear! get an ECLER

Re: mixers
i just realized, that the nuo 2.0 is basically a 3-channel mixer. the third channel has no phono in and a volume knob instead of a fader, but it's kinda exactly what i need. i guess ecler gets another chance here.

Re: mixers
Whatever you get, dont buy a Behringer DJX700. god awful. Plastic feel to it, its massive, FX are terrible, crossfader works when it wants to, confusing design.
I bought it with 2x Technics 1200s for 350quid (amazing bargain, so cant really complain)...
I got a used Xone 22 off Ebay for 180quid (UK build) and blending tunes on it is like rolling a cigar on a cuban virgins' thighs. Smooth.

Re: mixers
i didn't realize any 22s were made in the UK, i was under the assumption they were all made in China.
i wouldn't hesitate to buy a 22 made in the UK.

Re: mixers
I guess the question is how do you know where the xone 22 you're buying was made?
I've got a Behringer DJX700, as above came in a bundle with my decks, as above, it's a piece of shit so was looking to upgrade.
Had heard nothing but good things about the xone 22 until now, this is making me think a bit.

Re: mixers
In my experience, for the money, Xone 22 and Allen and Heath in general are excellent quality.
I haven't come across any of the problems listed until I heard here.
I haven't used an abundance of mixers, but after A&H I wouldn't want to

Re: mixers
wanted to bump this and say that 2 years down the road my Xone 22 has broken down on me 2ice and is almost completely dead now... and i think i'm going to buy an ecler... should've listened to south3rn, 10 Bag and soul kids in the firstplace.
**sigh**
the Xone 22 had an entire channel die within a year (free fix under warranty), then we were getting problems with the power jack that still persist (fker turns off in the middle of a mix if u bang a fader to the top too hard, sometimes it just does it without any prompting too) and finally the right channel seems to have given up (constantly having to unplug the RCA cable to get sound out of both speaker, horrible hissing noise and more).
avoid buying the Xone 22, speaking from experience... was honestly expecting the thing to last AT LEAST 5 years based on A&H reputation. Sadly, sadly mistaken...

Re: mixers
thats bad luck man, sorry to hear that.
not saying this to be a prick, more to question if there has been a drop of quality at A+H, but my UK made 2005 Xone:32 is still completely faultless 8 years later. maybe its just bad luck though

Re: mixers
Go for a Ecler nuo 2.0 got one near christmas best sounding mixer i've ever used and very solid build.
Re: mixers
I've got a nuo2.0 as well and it's a great piece of kit. Sounds great, all the faders are adjustable so you can set it up exactly how you want, the fx loop works really well and it's got a handy little 3rd channel as well!

Re: mixers
You should by a rane ttm-56 (2 channel) or rane empath (3 channel). Ecler is referred to as the rane of Spain...May as we'll just get the rane.
Re: mixers
^ yeah I'd be totally down for spending 500£ more on a mixer I'd be using exclusively at home eitherway.

My mate's Xone 22 also carked it after about 18 months.
Mainly due to it not having an on/off switch (?!) which resulted in him fucking up the power socket by constant unplugging/replugging in of the DC lead.
