Back to the OP, the way you could differentiate this from the standard tune/feedback threads is by setting a different aspect of the challenge each week.

For example;

Week 1 - vocal track
Week 2 - track with no drums
Week 3 - techno track

etc
etc

i haven't used sidechaining once in months, don't get it in your head that you need to all the time

Haha I honestly was planning on doing a dark/jungle/dungeon track for my first week just to expand on a different genre and see what it's like producing it. But yeah if you all want to do something like that then we should! I'd be interested in seeing you guys trying bro-tunes :cornlol:

A different genre for each week? Drum N Bass, Dubstep, Moombahton, Electro House? Something like that? So it's just a tempo-set and see what people can do with it? Because I think if it's too specific then a lot of people will be having a hard time, maybe. And I don't think everyone here listens to all different types of electronic music.

Ideas? If nothing really good/stable comes to mind then we'll just stick with the original taste of tracks.

EDIT: I actually like the first week idea wub. I think we should do a vocal week. Lets make that for Week 2?

would there be an option to just produce whatever you like for each week as well.. example: say if the challenge of the week is to make DnB but few people still just want to make what they want, would it be ok sorting it so the ones that are making the DnB go on the top then the rest who couldn't make/didn't want to make DnB to be lower on the list or something..
its just that i want to do this weekly but im not sure if i want to be making loads of random genres each week if this thread ended up being like that :D

Yeah forget it. Just make whatever you please. Set your own goals on what you want to make. Just make sure it's made in a week though!

I think weekly song themes would work better than genres. Leaves more room for creativity. Example.. Week 1: Levitation (So you'd make a song with sounds that resemble the idea of levitation/floating), Week 2: Underwater, etc,etc.. it would be interesting to see our different representations of the same idea/theme.

as cool as it would be to do a different genre each week let's remember that not everyone is capable of that. sure it's great to be able to make different genres but for example to ask someone who makes some deep melodic dubstep to make an electro house banger would just be counter productive

stick to techniques or something a little more in the box

Hey all, if any of you can make great tracks in a week or less and are interested in producing tracks for "mainstream" pop/top 40/urban/dance/dub/electro songs (any or all of those genres), we may have work for you. Look up my thread Seeking Producers for Mainstream Songs (http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=231561) and send us your demo or a link to a demo (soundcloud, youtube, etc). We need them before Monday if you want a chance at the initial round of collaborations, but after that is ok too.

I think someone should choose a phrase or a quote or a keyword for the week, and everyone should base their tune off of that - like make a tune based on what that phrase or word inspires in you
