my main beef with mac's/OSx is their "already perfect" mentality.

if something is not working properly on a pc, you are given reason and options to address the issue. outdated or malfunctioning hardware is easy to upgrade and is readily available. if something is not working properly on a mac... hand over your wallet to applecare bc more often than not, you are not given the option to make changes yourself.

i have to admit, mac's have an incredibly friendly user interface, but once you dig deeper and ask more from your machine, you are extremely limited. i hate to say it, but the power of the right-click is huge and imo reflects the whole idea/concept of a mac. yeah, yeah, yeah, mac's have "right-click" as well, but for what? copy and pasting? where are my preferences and options? the menu bar is not specific enough to the changes you might want to make.

mac's are great if you don't vary from their intentional use

i want options, prefferences, control over general and specific functionality, ability to alter hardware, etc

i will keep it at that. this subject has been beaten to death. my original post as well as this post is in my own opinion. i agree i was a little arrogant with my first post and a little far-fetched to say the least. i honestly believe there are technically savy mac users, but they're by far, the minority.

Preferences is in the drop down menu when you click on the name of the application at the top of the screen.

can you burn cps with a mac book pro?

i just found out it does, i had to plug in a pc mouse to do it with iTunes

Thanks for everyone’s feedback – I have just bought Serato and am running it on my personal HP 550 laptop.

The hardrive is only 250gb and the track pad doesn’t work, so if I’m playing live than I would have to plug in a USB mouse FML.
The macs are nice and do give you that poncy artiste look, but they are just expensive. The model I want is about £1,800 where the equivalent Windows-based laptops come in at about £600.

I’m not gonna be using it for production at all, it wouldn’t even have a web browser on it, just purely tunes and SSL.

That said, the battery life and general user friendly-ness (?) of a mac have won it for me. Just gonna have to wait an extra month or two to buy it.

I am on my macbook pro and have got options.. preferences and control, great functionality and ability to change hardware (it is easy to open up a macbook, imo way easier then some windows laptop which you'll break some sort of annoying plastic bit while opening it), also what are you on about with right click? I can right click.. and it has everything I need in it? I always feel like people who write this have never touched a mac, or touched it once and went "eww" those sorta people you know what I mean?

With mac you pay for quality, don't everyone already know this?

Not trying to be rude, but most of that is false information. You can do those things and it's easy too. Upgrading hardware can be tricky, but still doable. Happy Mac user since 2005.

You pay a lot for this supposed quality. Usually more than double the equivalent PC, for the same components. Which is why Apple have made $13 billion in 3 months, they're very good at spreading this propaganda and brainwashing the masses.

Having a slogan like 'it just works' is also laughable. I have to admit, the Windows laptop i'm writing this on at the moment doesn't work. I can't even connect to the internet to write this. Its never worked since the day i bought it, and i guess it'll continue to not work. Shame really. But i'll soon buy another laptop, although that probably won't work either.
