Any fastcore etc. fans must hear this Suffer record!

:u: :u: :u:

No Comment, Infest, Jesus Crost, Infection, Extortion, Driller Killer, Disfear etc. The Arson Anthem first EP was ridiculous too.

This thread got BM'd. BM, you started off good with the Circle Jerks. Most of those videos have nothing to do with punk, they are just the first things you heard when you were little.

I was just saying.....something about progression

something about rap/hip-hop being the punk of black culture...
something about how the multitude of sounds were all progressing in greatly different directions
- at the same time..and doing it well...
something about the quality of pop back then...
something about the quality of pop now...
sonething about rawness/realness

something about...connections

logical progressions

Well, punk and hip-hop did meet in the early '80s in New York, but you didn't really make that connection with those vids. There was also and punk and reggae crossover in London in the late '70s. Also in the US with the Bad Brains.

a wild night at one of their gigs at an old bush inn in Canberra (!)
Punters were all half-naked & doing back somersaults off the stage
when skinheads came in & started a riot...insane punch-up, including the band & roadies.
I shouted the cops were coming & they scarpered,
only to return later to join the joyous mosh. Fantastic!

so maybe it's a draw.
That sounds like a crazy gig!! DRI were one of my fav bands when I was a yout.

Today wrote:so UK, you've definitely got dubstep, you kicked our asses at rock and roll... we get hip hop.
but who done punk best... UK or USA?

remember, we started the music, y'all did the whole wardrobe thing
UK always re-does american genres better though (house, techno, rock)

I like a lot of bands from both regions
ranging from Ramones, new York Dolls, Rancid, Buzzcocks, the Clash, the Descendants
to newer, much more melodic (actually good musicians) such as NOFX, Lagwagon, Less Than Jake (shut up they are punk)
and hardcore bands like 25 ta Life, Madball, Refused

or post your favorite tunes if you wanna :corndance:
For the record though, the bassist from rancid is the best bassist from any punk band I've ever heard.
