Re: Is Logic Pro the shit ?
Get the fuck out, that is cheap? Do you guys have different versions, honestly, cause I jumped over to the assle store and they just listed like logic studio or some shit, and it was... 599, 499, can't recall, was a bit more than I expected it to be.
Re: Is Logic Pro the shit ?
Yeah until quite recently, logic pro/studio was around $500, but now it's down to $200 on the app store!nowaysj wrote:Get the fuck out, that is cheap? Think it might be time to build that hackintosh I've been thinking about for some time. I've been on an audio capable daw quest for some time, and I think logic might be the solution...
Re: Is Logic Pro the shit ?
I highly doubt apple makes the FCPX mistake with logic too? I mean they have started selling FCP9 again due to the backlash and shit. Why suffer the same problem with the Music community too? I just dont see them mesing it up like that.... i do agree that 10 or X will def. be right around the corner though release wise.

Re: Is Logic Pro the shit ?
"All in all the worst product launch I’ve ever seen from Apple or pretty much any software manufacturer. Instead of a nice suite of applications that worked well together (FCP, Color, Motion, SoundTrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro) you now have one big app that really doesn’t do all that much well. It completely ignores the 11 years of existence by giving you zero options to open older projects. We called it iMovie Pro when it was debuted back in April and quite honestly, that’s what it is." - From an article disucssing the launch.

"We joked at NAB that this was "iMovie Pro" and doggone it if that isn't what this turned out to be. A very souped up version of iMovie '11 but with iMovie's ability to "Export to FCP" removed. The basic operation is identical. Apple just added a few new features and rolled in some color tools and sound tools. But who cares about the actual operation of the editing interface, give me a couple of days and I'll by flying through the interface. That's not the problem. The problem is the insular thinking that Apple seems to have taken with this application. In fact, I just wrote a review on the App Store (where FCPX is hovering between 2.5 and 3 stars) and it sums up the major features that are missing or will cause us issues if we tried to implement this app moving forward. As I'm sure you won't see this review quoted anywhere in the Apple marketing blitz and it's always possible it won't even be posted on their site, here it is in its entirety…" another quote discussing the release.

Studio has Mainstage, SoundtrackPro and WaveBurner included. SoundtrackPro and WaveBurner are now discontinued and Mainstage is available via the App Store for cheap (€ 24).nowaysj wrote:Okay, whats the diff between Logic Pro, and Logic Studio?

Re: Is Logic Pro the shit ?
I don't think you get Sculpture with Express either. It's a pretty powerful synth, but I find the interface frustrating to learn...
I don't know, personally I wouldn't change platforms just for a bit of software. From what I've seen there's not much difference between DAWs (save for Reason and Ableton) other than subtle differences.
Although I'm in with the crowd, I'm a Logic Studio user and I love it!

Yes, logic pro's advantages are that it has the space designer and a few other extra plugins, plus sculpture and EVP88.bigfootspartan wrote:I don't think you get Sculpture with Express either. It's a pretty powerful synth, but I find the interface frustrating to learn...

Here's the full differences between the two:

Re: Is Logic Pro the shit ?
def get logic pro for 199, cant beat that price and sculpture, es2, space designer, and various other plugs are well worth it. although i do admit logics reverbs sound very metallic to me and space designer is fiddly as fuck. i myself like more simple but amazing reverbs like audio damage eos.

Re: Is Logic Pro the shit ?
Wait but, what do you get with logic pro... not the studio. They're not selling the studio for $199, they're still selling that for $499. What do you get with just plain old Logic Pro. Never mind me, I'm not even asking, wondering out loud... so tired!
Re: Is Logic Pro the shit ?
Logic Pro is the standalone program, with all the plugs ins, Logic Studio is the full package with Mainstage and Waveburner, plus it comes with LOADS of Apple Loops, it's about 8 DVDs altogether, to be honest all the samples are useful but not essential, the only reason i got Studio is because i'm on a music course i got it for £130. I would strongly suggest that any one in education should check the educational discounts.

Yeah, especially the silververb - SO FUCKING METALLIC! You can get around it though, it just takes some fiddling.

Logic pro comes with all of logics plugs it just doesn't come with mainstage and the waves thing an shit. Logic pro is everything you will need. Studio is a rip off.nowaysj wrote:Wait but, what do you get with logic pro... not the studio. They're not selling the studio for $199, they're still selling that for $499. Yeah they all sound metallic to me and space designer is so fiddly to me. I love ad eos it's beautiful sounding and the GUI is so easy to programSonika wrote:Eat Bass wrote:def get logic pro for 199, cant beat that price and sculpture, es2, space designer, and various other plugs are well worth it. although i do admit logics reverbs sound very metallic to me and space designer is fiddly as fuck. i myself like more simple but amazing reverbs like audio damage eos.

I like complex synths and distortion and things but for reverb and delays and such I just like things that are easy to program an sound good. Audio damage eos reverb and substation delay are dope for that

I will have to give those a demo.Eat Bass wrote:Yeah they all sound metallic to me and space designer is so fiddly to me. But space designer is for me, one of the most easily programmed reverbs out there. Plus its convolution reverb spaces are sounding superb. You should try sonnox Oxford reverb - http://www.sonnoxplugins.com/pub/plugin ... reverb.htm
It sounds dope, but is a f'in pain to programme
