All they're going to find from me is my propensity to watch multiple
videos b2b featuring an assortment of petite ethnics getting pounded,
my love of Arsenal FC and possibly my correspondence telling my former
boss to basically suck my balls before dobbing him in to the tax man.

I literally have nothing to hide - HOWEVER, I don't want them watching me.
So fuck them and any way they think they can get an advantage to do so.

Web pioneer Sir Tim Berners-Lee slams Government's monitoring plans

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/po ... 57170.html

British members of Anonymous plan to take another crack at bringing down GCHQ and Home Office sites on Saturday, as the hacking group continues its weekend campaign
http://www.zdnet.co.uk/news/security-th ... -40155033/

GCHQ = Government Communications Headquarters which is the centre for Her Majesty's Government's Signal Intelligence (SIGINT) activities.

seems to be hard to find anyone else doing anything about it apart from Anonymous..

there was this petition which currently has 135528 signatures- The petition text is piss poor though but the numbers count.

These e-petitions only prompt a debate though, which will quickly be deaded and the bill passed regardless, I know it's better nothing but it still infuriates me about the lack of real democracy on real issues in this fucking country.

yeah for sure-we all know they amount to nothing 9 times out of 10 but it's still good for people who are more passive about it to see the amount of numbers of people who are against it.

surprising the sopa acta pipa etc stuff got more attention than this is. i guess people used all of there interwebz-passion on that.

they'll probably make a few big busts with it and try and make it seem more justified i reckon.

So theresa may [sic] wants to justify monitoring and storing all of our private data on the basis of a threat from "terrorists", "peadophiles", and "serious criminals"? Okay, let's have a look at some stats then.

MI5 has it that out of 1834 people arrested under the Terrorism Act between September 11th 2011 and 2010, just 102 were classified as terrorists.[1] As of 2010 Britain was populated by 62,218,761 people.[2] It's also understood (on the basis of a police study, so I'd be dubious about these statistics too, given how prone they are to tampering) that 0.5% of the population are "peadophiles".[3] As I wouldn't know where to find stats on "serious criminals" not in prison, I'll just use the total prison population as a guide (remembering that a lot of prisoners will be in there for crimes which aren't considered serious) which is 97,000[4] - so if my maths is right that constitutes 0.15% of the population.

So even if we do grant the figures from MI5 and the police, in lieu of a proper grasp of how they compiled their stats... can we really justify the wholesale storage of the private data of 62,218,761 other people on the basis of such an overwhelmingly small proportion of people? Seems to me like the rest of us, the largest majority, are the real target here. We're all potential criminals in their eyes, they just don't wanna outright say it.

you guys do realise that theyre only changing the law so that they can monitor activities of people they already have reason to suspect are using the internet for terorism/paedophillia etc.etc...they arent going to watch people for no reason. If it gets more evidence to hold up in court to make our country a safer place then im all for it.

Nope. They already have the power to do that. Have done for 12 years. Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 mate.

edit: you can also guarantee they will use this technology to suppress activists, who are already beginning to be considered as criminals (and I'm not on about that Black Bloc shit, they let that lot run rampant 'cause it's good for the cameras - I'm on about UK Uncut and those other peaceful protestors who found themselves arrested in droves). Also it's been pointed out... storing this information opens the way to blackmail, extortion, and other forms of exploitation. The government have proven themselves incapable of keeping our data safe time and time again, not to mention the very tangible threat of hackers obtaining that info...

Or so they want you to believe. Its the next step towards a police state. Under the false flag of terrorism they can now take away your basic human rights of privacy.

that much is true.

that's the beautiful thing about it, the more humanity finds it's self externally constrained, the bigger the need to resist naturally becomes. you stretch something too much and it pings back.

It's not enough to simply say "they'll always be fighting a losing battle" when tyranny takes lives. Are we forgetting how many innocent people have been imprisoned or even killed on the basis of all of this paranoia? Even if they don't ultimately triumph, human suffering is real right now.

i cant remember the last time the government listened to the peoples views though, not even a country of rioters could make them do anything

for sure- it's more the knowing of the fact that everything is unfolding as it should. We are in control of the when it should and it's all of our responsibility.

All a duality thing again - What 'isn't working' reminds us of what should be working by now. that same suffering, leads to liberation because of it.

But until then everyone has their part to play. some do ,some speak, some watch, some have other plans. all contributing to the unfolding :w:

This internet surveillance thing will just remind people of how easily we are at being manipulated by, and for information.

they can't 'win' basically if you just don't play their game.
