Re: Bands you like
Yeah The Lapse is great, the frontman, Chris Leo, used to play in the emo band Native Nod which is pretty much the greatest band of all time.

Re: Bands you like
man i dunno i got such a random taste in bands, the doors, the dead kennedys, agent orange, joy division, new order, bad manners and anything ska related
Re: Bands you like
transatlanticism was largely responsible for getting me into "good" music way back whenparticle-jim wrote:I am fond of a bit of deathcab from time to time, saw them at benicassim a few years ago and had never heard them before, only went to watch them coz the GF at the time was a big fan, was very impressed gotta admitJTMMusicuk wrote:deathcab for cutie..although i guess that is a bit dark at times
can't say i was too impressed with much after plans tho
anyway, the cinematic orchestra is incredible, probably my go-to for favorite band whenever anyone asks (easier than going through the whole "erm i listen to music mostly made by one dude and a shitload of buttons" ting)
lots of jazzy/fusion stuff is good actually -- bajofondo is a personal fav for "neo-tango" or modern re-working of classic argentine tango (supervielle album is the one)
i like foals too
and beirut
fat freddy's drop
thievery corporation
zero 7
10 ft ganja plant
and whenever i feel like taking a trip down memory lane i put on sts9's 'artifact' album, fuck all you haters

Re: Bands you like
I think most bands I listen to, although primarily have 'happy' music, have at least one song that makes me cry. It depends on my mood, I suppose. Anywho, bands I've seen and enjoyed.
- PINE*am (their album Pull The Rabbit Ears is very happy
)
- Death From Above 1979 (love the remixes)
- The Flaming Lips
- Glass Candy (B/E/A/T/B/O/X is pure summer, top-down, Cali vibes album)
- GoGoGo Airheart (lots of memories dancing with the ladies)
- Xiu Xiu (this might be a bit
but it's been a few years since I've listened to this so I'm
)
- The Strokes, TV On The Radio, Eagles Of Death Metal, etc

Ah, I love Leonard Cohen, even if he's cheesy sometimes
My all time favourite band is Einstuerzende Neubauten, though I don't think it really matches criteria from the first post...
How about Antony and the Johnsons? His gig was the most moving performance I've ever been to. Antony's music makes me want to smile and cry, it touches me deeply...
This song was absolutely amazing live:
