I was at this monthly Melbourne event called Wobble last night (any of the Melbourne crew on here in attendance?) and one DJ Kamo played an amazing vinyl set made up of a lot of Deep Medi, DMZ and Tempa records. Aside from hearing Loefah - Mud on a system for the first time, and it living up to all expectations and then some, I was surprised by VIVEK - Eyes Down. It was always my least-favourite tune on the EP, but hearing it last night closing a set on a massive soundsystem in a dark room filled with deep heads and surprisingly hot women, it absolutely blew my mind. Atmosphere was amazing and the weight was ridiculous. Was also pleasantly surprised by Hijak - Dally (never realised quite how heavy this one is) and Vex'd - Angels.

So yeah, what are some other tunes that you just didn't understand until you heard them out?
I was there - what's your name? Chances are I don't know you as I barely go out anymore.

Eyez VIP into Marduk.. was madness!

Any of Phaelehs tunes sound completely different to me on a big system. I love listening to his tunes at home, they're so chilled.. but on a big system theyre so weighty.. I love seeing Phaeleh DJ!

I know of them but don't speak to them. Only go out to a gig maybe once every 2 months now - nothing really worthwhile on anymore yanno..

You going to Ben UFO?

Nah, gotta work that night unfortunately. Were you at Bass Jump 2012 with Kryptic Minds, Icicle and Spectrasoul?

Yeah I know about that thread, but this is more about tunes that you didn't like or understand till you heard them on a system rather than just general favourites

Yeah I can imagine, the bass in this is out of this world even on my 150W sub. Really hoping I'll hear both this and Horrid Henry out at some point...

Not so much one tune, more the whole sound. Went to see Loefah recently and he played some dubstep after his Swamp stuff. I always knew about the emphasis on sub bass but didn't really get it until I heard 'The Goat Stare'. I didn't think a tune could actually be uncomfortable when played on a system.

Goat Stare on the Iration rig was silly, caught it for the first time not even that long ago. Tune absolutely batters people.

Hearing ruffage, mud and goat stare in one night was unbelivable :U:

Although i think goat stare isnt as heavy as people say it is, thought mud hit harder.

And all mala and coki tunes are weighty as fuck too :corndance:

Duppy Soursop is the one. Tune is absolutely shite unless you can feel it. Then its phenomenal.

I'm not sure I appreciated Lean Forward properly until I heard it on a system. I mean, I always liked the tune, but now I'm a huge fan.

So jealous of that. Those of us in the states will never get to hear that stuff on a proper rig.

Would like to hear this out:
wow that is just massive

mala was in NYC this month on a right proper system

I walked into System when Rufage was being played. Absolutely incredible. I thought it was a good tune before, but it sounded completely different on a system where the highs had space to breathe and reverberate.

I'm sure that is amazing on a system, but even on my cans it sounds amazing, just by itself without the earth shaking physicality of the sub

part of why i love this music is that none of us alone could afford such a bangin soundsystem. but promoters, venues, suppliers, engineers, artists, DJ's and fans make sure it'll happen. It's a good feeling of being a part of something bigger than yourself.. even if you have a sub at home, yours ain't pushing 10,000 watts.

kinda silly and slightly off topic, but that's a part of going out that always strikes me when the subs hit. just a sonic phenomenon that no one could pull off alone
