There's never a direct replacement... Jean-Paul valley replaces Bruce when bane appears and breaks his back in the nightfall series but it's short lived cause he's a dick. The. Robin replaces him twice but yes also a shitty batman... He replaced him once in batman rip as well but he was shit then and Greyson went to do his nightwing thing. There's imposters (3 ghosts). There's bizaro batman and there's the various incarnations in batman Incorporated in very brief forms of Imposterness.
I could see Nolan staying true and bane breaking batmans back and setting up nightfall but there's an entire bridge of robin they're skipping. If they go that route Alfred quits and batman gets mega dark for a bit
Edit: during batman rip/ battle for the cowl series a few people try and assume batmans position but robin fucks them up. Come to think of it you can't do nightwing/batman replacement without robin arc. You could do Jean Paul if this movie ends with waynes back broken. Actually nightfall would be a great one off movie to lead into a robin arc/ return of bale

and I thought I was bad
That might be the way for this movie though you know, I can see Nolan going down that route to delve even deeper into Bruce Wayne's character and bring out some shit that I would never have expected to see in a superhero movie lol

Nightfall/knightfall is a great series. But there's a major void in Jean Paul taking over like the entire Azrael storyline... Which would be great because it could lead to the most awesome comic book event ever, black lanterns
Spoiler
But that would involve wayne being dead and would rule out justice league. A boy can hope

the movie wont end with bane breaking batman's back i dont think, i think they'll tie off an ending, in that respect i think they'll merge something together

Fiver says it'll end with Joseph Gordon Levitt holding some sort of cowl/cape fragment and looking off wistfully somewhere.

lol this
maybe also a scene right before it with Bruce closing up the Batcave
want them to bring back the original animated series theme tune for those final scenes, can't see it happening though
