i never had a crumpet by the way. don't they make different kinds like blueberry and choco chip and all that good stuff? is it ok for americans to incorporate this "tea time" into our days? i should ask my boss for one. wonder if they would give it to me. i can fake an accent and say it has to deal with religion or something.

No you can't get flavoured Crumpets (blasphemy) you have to spread them with butter and heaps of Strawberry Jam.Or alternatively toasted with Cheese on top.
Flavoured Crumpets what ever next? :o :D

Crumpets are plain, no flavourings. The addition of jam means that this isn't an issue however. The most important thing however is about half a gallon of butter.

I'd post you some crumpets but the postman would probably eat them.

Incidently, 'Crumpet' is kind of inuendo for 'a bit of skirt'. Both types go well with tea in the afternoon.

Well, a tea set isn't mandatory. I use one myself, but thats because I'm a bit of a pretentious git. A mug will do. I favour Earl Grey for afternoon tea, but again this is open to interpretation. Health considerations do not figure in most English culinary affairs, but we must move with the times as they say...

If you want to drink decent tea none of the brands will do.Best to purchase some decent quality loose tea and buy a tea pot.If your interested i can point you towards a few decent tea websites that ship internationally for reasonable prices.Ideally you want to be looking for tea that comes from the Yunnan area of China.Indian tea can also be very good for the black variety but you need to know what your looking for.All the commercialy available Tea sold in the UK is floor sweepings which remains untouched by the Indians and Chinese.
I don't go for any flavours personally if you buy decent Tea it has a depth of palate like a good wine.Im a little bit obsessed with Tea,hit me up if you need some advice.I sell Tea myself but only UK based really unless your buying a large quantity. :D

i know a few people here that make teas themselves. no tea bags...just loose tea. and it is amazing. they make a killer chai. i refuse to drink the commercial tea bags. they aren't that great at all. if i drink tea, which i like to every now and again, i want it to be amazing.

never had a plain tea though with no other spices or anything. i would probably get down on it, but don't know a good kind to try. which is why i then asked you guys for names or ideas or whatever since you are the tea gods. haha

there's also good tea in sri lanka/ceylon... but i would listen to von carlton before me, he seems to know his stuff.

also, whoever posted that video of the chinese tea ceremony, thank you! i thought it was goofy at first then i actually watched it again and was really into it. I'd love to learn how to do that :)
