I feel the exact same way about house, I reckon just be persistent in producing house because soon enough Dubstep is going to phase out and go back to normal and people will probably go back to house.
In any case its always a good idea to expand your music to different genres because you learn heaps through each different genre.
Not to be cliché here though but going with what i quoted from you, deadmau5 style progressive house is what i feel, on an emotional level so I try and create deep music like that.
But that's just my two cents.

Deadmau5 is a huge inspiration for me.. A lot of people hate on house, or trance, cause it's repetitive, if you don't include variation, but songs like "Strobe", are a good example, of what you can do with a 2-3 min build up, and I tip my hat to Deadmau5...

deamau uses white noise in a really cool way
he kind of has bursts of it that go tssshhhhhh tssshhhhh in the buildup building tension for the drop
sometimes he has a bit of silence that reslly builds the tension for the drop
its not a filthy bass drop like dubstep rather a bit more classy in some way
really gets everyone dancing

i heard the 5 in dedmau5 is for the 5 seconds of silence before the drop

its an old jeff mills trick
not sure but i think jeff mills and deadmau used to dj together so it could be either of them tbh
