It is kind of depressing the obsession Hollywood has for the sequel these days.

I think they'll cherry pick a lot from the extended universe. Or even lift entire story lines. Like those X-Men movies, they're based on story arcs from the comics with bits and pieces from the whole universe throw in there.
This probably won't be much worse than the prequels really. I don't think I'm gonna go out of my way to watch these though. Probs just when a friend throws them in or I'm invited to go see it at the cinema.
People overreact like mad, though. Don't like, don't watch, 'YEAH WELL, WE ALL KNOW I'M GONNA END UP WATCHING THEM CUZ I LOVE STAR WARS'. Well, I dont'see the point in blaming Disney and Lucas for our own lack of self-control.

The extended universe has some cool stories, like the jedi robot (supposed to be the one who blows up when Uncle Owen gets the droids from the jawas).
Shame it's not canon http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Skippy_the_Jedi_Droid

Wasn't there something like 9 original episodes or (something
to that effect) in the first place? It's all meant to be about Luke
creating a jedi school and slowly turning into a Darth himself
without realising it - (robot hand in Empire was the turning point.)

Maybe there was at some point, but there are plenty of canon extended universe books that I doubt they could go that route.
Then again Lucas retconned a bunch of shit in the prequels...
Honestly the IP is probably in better hands with Disney, I just hope they leave Indy alone.

That sounds pretty interesting, actually.

They should bring Pixar in on the case and do something better than that Clone Wars animated series and movie, add Luke in since Mark Hamill is a don of voice acting now. http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Mark-Hamill/
If you play video games or watch cartoons, chances are Luke Skywalker has played someone you dig.
He's looking his age though so can't see a live action comeback.

I mean do you think even Harrison Ford could pull off an old Han at this point? Even for how fit he is he looked pretty haggard in that bastardization of the Indy franchise.

It's also worth noting Disney now owns the rights to the LucasArts gaming IPs as well (not just Indiana Jones and Star Wars)
Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, The Dig, Sam & Max etc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LucasArts_games full list here.

Haha, I just found it amusing that the actor for Arya on GoT was doing a semi cripwalk in a flashmob.

Star Wars is well over rated anyway. Hopefully this will improve it...I'm not so sure though.
