years of fast(ish) bowling and heavy batting will do that i suppose.

He also started really young and was more of a bowler in his early years.
They actually tried to curb his bowling a bit to extend his batting career which worked but unfortunately every time he bowls it comes back.
Such a massive pity.

always the way

"start as a bowler
get good at batting
bowl less to extend career
get injured more because you want to do what you're good at"

eg a chris cairns

And Petereson running himself out hasn't helped.

The ground is known for it's higher than normal first innings scores.
I will admit though, SA didn't bowl great on the first day.
Kleinveldt toiled away with no luck either.
Just one of those days I guess.

cant believe its taken so long for a cricket thread. I watched thurs night splay but havent seen last nights yet. Quietly pleased with how things are going, if Cooky and KP can stay safe for another 2 sessions we might actually have a game.

Was gutted watching days 1's play, i must have fallen asleep when they were 170 ish for 6 and when I sdwoke up at the end of the days play we hadnt got anymore.

Defnitely the right call to play 2 spinners, I heard boycott this morning saying that he reckons Monty and Swann are better than the Indian spinners and as usual I'm inclined to agree with Geoffrey. Also (even thoufgh I think he's a twat) Beefy is right that Broad should be dropped atm.

Yep, definitely agree on Broad getting dropped. I'd have bresnan instead if only to get another yorkshireman in there. Cook is a machine- one dodgy over this morning but the guys a machine- series is turning into him v Pujara.

Looks good for now but as Blofeld says every two minutes- everything can change in a few minutes in India!
