Butter and milk inna mash. Maybe even an egg yoke.
Have to agree that eating potatoes for two decades has made me grow weary of them. I like rice a lot more these days...with a good glass of paddy water and herbs.
On Christmas , I eat sushi, preferably the endangered kind, maguro. I try to stay away from it for the rest of the year. My way of saving the environment.

If you keep insisting on putting in mealy almond slivers, year after year, yes. We've voted and think that you should be making the yams. Noses up in the air, girls. walk away, walk away.
GRAVY SUCKS
That is true, and unassailable. Try it, Assail my gravy hatred.

^^ If the taste of the mixture for my sweet potato pie is anything to go by, I might be joining you in that decision LACE. The pumpkin, I think I might be able to take or leave, but the sweet potato is making my kitchen smell GOD LIKE.
Work can really fuck off today. I want to COOK.
Southstar - you can get sweet potatoes in most supermarkets! I got mine from Tesco Metro!

Never really liked the sound of them to be honest, the other sweet vegetables like swede and parsnip do nothing for me

Yeah, I'm not a big sweet root veggies fan either. My Mum always used to put roast parsnips in the same bowl as the roast potatoes... you'd bite in expecting potato and get a mouthful of weird sugar. Scarred for life.
I've only ever really used sweet potato and swede for making mash more interesting and it's always come out a bit too rich if you use too much... the sweetness suddenly seems to make sense when you're using it as the basis of a dessert, though!

You can get those in most delis and supermarkets these days... the shop next to my work does plantain crisps though; I've never looked back!

Yam is a sweet potato afaik or atleast ar epractically the same.
Sweet potato is better than regular potato in my book. They cook faster, are better for you and you can use their skins in mash and its damn good
Based off my one thanks giving ever, sweet potato mash followed by pumkin pie.
Sweet potato is surprise surprise right next to regular kinds in every supermarket. Sainsburys ones are the nicest, tesco the cheapest off the top of my head.
