i'd be dependant on how they hold their gun. so i think if they're right handed, you'd want to run to their right. do not quote me tho :6:

Yeah in case of a right handed shooter, it's harder to keep the sights lined up if you're swinging to the right.
Chances are, it's going to be a handgun though :)

dang you'd shoot to kill right off the bat? when i think of home defense it's more along the lines of blasting at knees and feet

exactly, always shoot below the waist, if possible. not only does it decrease the risk of death, but it also decreases your chance of getting an attempted murder charge

i have a couple guns. would try to reason with an intruder first, if possible, but will shoot if necessary. i would like not to have to take a life but if someone I loved got hurt because i wouldn't do anything... :(

regardless of their reasoning for B&E, they accept the risk when they intrude. there is a sign on the door anyways that states the danger within

plus you dont even have to try to hit them, just aim near the feet... no one is going to continue doing whatever they're doing if they have hot lead bouncing around their feet.

don't even have to go that far, just own a 12 gauge or a .45/.50 and fire a single shot into your ceiling while you're in an adjacent room

also yelling, i have a "loaded gun!" usually gets people leaving really quickly

you give up your element of surprise, but hopefully won't have to use the weapon

i think if you own a gun, it should be licensed and you should know how to use it, i.e. take a couple of classes

exactly

"using it against intruders" apparently means "painting the walls with someone's brain" for most people unfamiliar with firearms

Have used a handgun in self defense, and trust me, it is hard to hit someone when they are moving either left or right.

Something about wub's threads makes you all huddle up

GO WUB.

PS: I got me a giant AK and a .22 and a .44 and a UZI. I keep my uzi in my boxer front. It remains hidden because I am monstrously endowed.

yeah, it supposed to be the same here, but guns are super easy to get so most don't bother

well if you look at what I posted afterwards, most people aren't that well trained with guns (especially under pressure in a situation like this) and no matter what your actual intent is, you run the risk of fatally injuring the person. If youre not ready to perhaps take someone's life (even by accident because you're not good at aiming or whatever scenario), you shouldn't really be shooting at them. Warning shots or something are different though, I guess that would fall under the bit about intimidating them
