?
What's not to understand about that statement?

Nothing about not understanding just that your statement can go more then 1 way
In their scene they take it for granted that this (promotor booking someone he's ignorant towards) doesn't happen
In their scene they take it for granted that people who come to DJ Shadow are there for him not for commercial music

You could explain what it is we/they take for granted as we are not American and couldn't possibly understand

Ok the vast majority of the world doesn't have the talent or clubs the UK takes for granted, is that an easier statement?
Half the time UK heads are sick of an artist it's when the rest of the world is finally taking notice or a tour is just taking off.
I know it has jack to do with Shadow, just kind of grining my gears reading other threads.

Funny - my pal was in Miami a few weeks back and checked out this place - he's not particularly into any style of music per se but digs D&B and dubstep - and described Mansion as being like an insane coked-up playground for the beautiful and incredibly stupid & shallow set... parking lot full of Ferraris and such. $12 Budweisers or something silly like that. Apparently there's a lot of that in South Beach.

If you look at the Google Image results for that place it suddenly looks like a clown vomited all over your screen... so many colors... :corntard:

How normal is it for DJs to perform at clubs like that in America? Out here it's really just normal crusty lookin' venues.

that IS miami
that's the very essence of miami

the only thing i'm surprised about in hearing about this was the fact that dj shadow was even playing in miami. it's unlike other cities, top 40/reggaeton has consumed much of the nightlife

everytime i go back i want to fucking DIE

WMC you mean? yeah, but that's only for a certain time out of the year. and there's always exceptions. few, very few exceptions. =D

you want to vacation in miami some random summer, go out some random night and hit the clubs..it's gonna be one disappointment after another. where as in london, san francisco, LA, you get that variety.

DJ Shadow Receives A Public Apology
From Mansion Nightclub
Miami, FL

(Miami, FL – Dec. 21st, 2012) - This past Friday, December 14, DJ Shadow was asked to step down from the decks at Mansion Nightclub during the middle of his set. According to reports, the promoter said his set was "Too Futuristic". Fans were not shy of voicing their dismay towards the club, shocked that the promoter would ask the legend to stop playing.

Today, Mansion Nightclub has issued a public apology:

"We offer our most sincere apologies to DJ Shadow and his fans for his set being cut short at Mansion this past weekend. This error should not have happened and will not happen again, especially as we pride ourselves on creating an environment that cultivates and respects innovators such as DJ Shadow. We have learned a lot from this error and made changes within our organization to ensure that Mansion’s vision, and the vision of our guests, will never be compromised again." -Mansion Nightclub, Miami
